    摘要: An orifice-free drug delivery device is provided. In an embodiment, the device includes a body having at least one water-permeable wall bounding a reservoir defined within the body. A drug formulation is disposed within the reservoir. The body has an elastic portion and at least one restraining plug closing off an opening of the body. The opening is in fluid communication with the reservoir, and the restraining plug contacts the elastic portion of the body and controls release of the drug from the device by the transient formation of one or more microchannels between the elastic portion of the body and the at least one restraining plug. The elastic portion may define an opening having an inner diameter, which is exceeded by the outer diameter of the restraining plug by at least 3%.

In one embodiment, an intravesical device includes an elastic body including an elongated tube defining a reservoir lumen, and a sensor disposed at least partially in the reservoir lumen and configured to measure or detect one or more parameters. The intravesical device is deformable between a deployment shape for passage of the intravesical device through the urethra into the bladder and a retention shape for preventing voiding of the intravesical device through the urethra.

    摘要: Drug delivery devices are provided in which much of a drug payload within the device remains within an area proximal to a wall of the device through which the drug must pass for release of the drug from the device into a patient. In one case, the device may include a drug reservoir portion which has a drug reservoir lumen bounded by a reservoir wall having an inner surface; a drug located in the drug reservoir lumen; and a core region which does not comprise the drug, wherein the drug is disposed between the inner surface of the reservoir wall and the core region. The device may be elastically deformable between a first shape suited for insertion through a lumen into a body cavity of the patient and a second shape suited to retain the device within the body cavity.
