摘要: The present invention provides for a method to deconstruct a biomass: the method comprising: (a) introducing a solvent comprising a polyamine, or a mixture of polyamines, to a biomass to dissolve at least part of solid biomass in the solvent, wherein the polyamine is a Brønsted or Lewis base, and/or the polyamine is a hydrogen bond donor and/or acceptor; (b) optionally introducing an enzyme and/or a microbe to the solubilized biomass mixture such that the enzyme and/or microbe produces a sugar from the solubilized biomass mixture; (c) optionally separating the sugar from the solubilized biomass mixture; and (d) optionally separating the lignan from the solubilized biomass mixture.

摘要: The present invention provides for a method for producing a 4-vinylphenol (4VP) and/or 4-vinylguaiacol (4VG), the method comprising: (a) providing a host cell capable of expressing a polypeptide having a phenolic acid decarboxylase (PAD) enzymatic activity wherein the polypeptide is capable of converting p-coumaric (CA) and/or ferulic acid (FA) into 4-vinylphenol (4VP) and/or 4-vinylguaiacol (4VG), respectively; and (b) culturing the host cell in a culture medium to express the polypeptide such that the polypeptide converts CA and/or FA into 4VP and/or 4VG, respectively; wherein the culture medium comprises an organic overlay or phase.

摘要: The present invention provides for a method to produce a sugar from a biomass, the method comprising: (a) providing a first mixture comprising a solubilized biomass and a distillable acid-base conjugate salt (DABCS) or deep eutectic solvent (DES), wherein (i) the DABCS is a protic ionic liquid (PIL) or a protic salt comprising a DABCS cation and a DABCS anion, and (ii) the DES is any combination of Lewis or Brønsted acid and base comprising any anionic and/or cationic species that have sufficient vapor pressure so that it can be readily distilled; and (b) distilling at least part of the DABCS from the first mixture in order to separate the at least part of the DABCS from the first mixture.
