    摘要: In a combination machining lathe, a workpiece holding device holds a workpiece in a manner that permits the workpiece to rotate around an axis parallel to a direction of a horizontal Z axis. A tool post holds a tool that comprises a holder and a bit. The tool held by the tool post is indexed to a position in which the longitudinal axis of the holder is parallel to an X axis direction. The bit of the tool held by the tool post is angled such that a longitudinal axis of the bit is disposed in a position tilted away from the X axis direction closer to a horizontal axis in a plane containing the X axis and the Y axis. A turning operation is performed while the tool and/or the workpiece are moved relative to each other in a direction of the longitudinal axis of the bit.

    摘要: A target is produced inexpensively by safely incorporating an additive which is inflammable in the atmosphere. A primary alloy in a molten state is formed by adding an additive into a principal material in a low-level oxygen atmosphere, and a secondary alloy is produced by increasing the volume of the primary alloy through adding the principal material to the molten primary alloy in the atmospheric atmosphere. Since the primary alloys in the molten or solid condition are stable, it does not ignite in the atmosphere. Since the volume of the primary alloy is smaller than that of the secondary alloy, a smaller size of a vacuum chamber 11 for the formation of the first atmosphere suffices.

    摘要: [Object] It is to provide a sputtering target which has an excellent adhesion to films made of Au, Cu or an alloy containing at least one of Au and Cu and also an excellent corrosion resistance and which can be used to form an Mo—Ti alloy film over a large-sized substrate.[SOLUTION] The present invention provides a sputtering target suitable for use in formation of an Mo—Ti alloy film on a substrate, characterized by that the sputtering target comprises Ti of higher than 50 atomic percentages but not exceeding 60 atomic percentages and the balance of Mo and inevitable impurities and that the relative density of the sputtering target is equal to or more than 98%. The present invention also provides a joined type sputtering target assembly formed by diffusion joining two of more of such sputtering targets, the length of the joined type sputtering target assembly being equal to or larger than 1,000 mm at least one side. The present invention further provides a method of making such a joined type sputtering target assembly.

    摘要: A numerically controlled, dual-turret lathe includes a pair of indexing turrets mounted on respective cross slides which in turn are slidably mounted on respective saddles for movement in the transverse direction of the lathe, the saddles themselves being mounted on a lathe bed for sliding movement in the longitudinal direction of the lathe. The turrets have mounted thereon a cooperative pair of gripper pawls capable of releasably holding work therebetween. As dictated by a prescribed program a numerical control system controls the movements of the cross slides and the saddles so as to cause the gripper pawls to carry the work from a preassigned standby position on the lathe bed into the chuck on the work spindle of the lathe, preparatory to the machining of the work by tools carried by the turrets.
