摘要: A multi-blade centrifugal fan for preventing circular flows in the end portions of an impeller in the axial direction is provided in a simple structure. The multi-blade centrifugal fan is formed of a fan casing 1 of a scroll type and a multi-blade centrifugal impeller 2. The fan casing 1 has a bellmouth 4 which becomes an air intake. The multi-blade centrifugal impeller 2 has a number of annularly arranged blades 6 inside the fan casing 1. The centrifugal impeller 2 draws in air through the intake 7, which faces the bellmouth 4, and blows out the air in the centrifugal direction through the blades 6. A retainer ring 10 is provided in an outer peripheral end portion of the impeller 2. A cylindrical body 11 is integrally provided in such a manner as to extend from the outer end of the retainer ring 10, so that circular flows toward the intake side are prevented in the end portions of the impeller 2.

摘要: A moving picture encoding apparatus divides a moving picture signal into key frames and non-key frames, encodes the key frames, predicts the non-key frames from the encoded key frames, determines a final encoding rate for each non-key frame, encodes each non-key frame, and outputs an error-correcting code at the final encoding rate as encoded data of the non-key frame. To determine the final encoding rate, the number of error-correcting bits needed to correct prediction errors is estimated by a first method and one or more second methods. The second methods are used to decide whether to use the number of bits estimated by the first method as the final encoding rate, or whether to supplement the estimated number of bits by adding an encoding rate correction. As a result, the encoding rate is not supplemented unnecessarily and the encoding efficiency is improved.

摘要: A moving picture sequence is divided into key frames, which are coded by a conventional method, and non-key frames, which are coded to obtain error-correcting information. The encoder and decoder independently generate predicted images for each non-key frame. The encoder compares its predicted image with the original non-key frame to estimate how much error-correcting information the decoder will need to decode the non-key frame by correcting prediction errors in the decoder's predicted image, and sends the decoder that amount of error-correcting information together with correlation information indicating how closely the predicted image and the original non-key frame are correlated. Before decoding the non-key frame, the decoder modifies the correlation information to compensate for differences in the prediction methods employed by the encoder and decoder. The modification enables the decoding process to converge faster.

摘要: An air conditioner includes a unit casing, an impeller, a scroll casing, and a heat exchanger. The unit casing is partitioned by a partition member into a fan chamber and a heat exchanger chamber. The heat exchanger is disposed inside the heat exchanger chamber so as to face a scroll blowout opening in the scroll casing. The scroll casing is disposed inside the fan chamber. A wall section projects from a heat exchanger side of a flat plate section of the partition member and is disposed outside a scroll outlet section of the scroll casing.

摘要: According to the invention, the rear end of a preceding metal piece and a front end of a succeeding metal piece are heated, pressed and joined prior to the finishing hot rolling. An alternating magnetic field running through the metal pieces in the thickness direction thereof is generated in an end region on opposed faces of the respective metal pieces to perform heating. Another alternating magnetic field whose direction is reverse with respect to that of the former alternating magnetic field is partially generated in the end region on the opposed faces of the metal pieces and in either a region where the metal pieces exist or a region outside width ends of the metal pieces. This assures a uniform heating of the end region on the opposed faces of the metal pieces over their full width to reliably join the both metal pieces to each other.

摘要: Method and apparatus for joining metal pieces using induction heating. Metal pieces to be joined are placed end-to-end with a gap between them and induction heated in the thickness portion. To maximize speed and even heating edge-to-edge of the ends, members of a magnetic substance are provided in a gap between the inductor and the piece to be heated, thereby enhancing local heating effect by increasing magnetic flux density. Once heated, the ends are pressed together end-to-end for joining.

摘要: An apparatus for joining metal pieces using induction heating. Preceding and succeeding metal pieces are followed by a carriage which carries an inductor. The inductor has the ability to move in the longitudinal direction of the metal pieces relative to the carriage to allow the inductor to move more or less upon the preceding or succeeding metal pieces to increase or decrease the induction heating effect, thereby taking into account any thickness variation of the metal pieces and yet still heating them evenly with regard to each other, prior to their being pressed against each other for joining before hot finishing rolling.
