摘要:
A recording mark train is formed in an optical recording medium including a noble metal oxide layer by decomposing a noble metal oxide and deforming the noble metal oxide layer. Noble metal particles are irreversibly deposit in the noble metal oxide layer formed with the recording mark train and a laser beam for reproducing data is irradiated onto the thus deposited noble metal particles, thereby reading the recording mark train. The recording mark train includes at least one recording mark having a length shorter than 0.37λ/NA wherein λ is the wavelength of the laser beam and NA is an optical system for irradiating the laser beam. According to the present invention, in the case of recording and reproducing a recording mark having a size smaller than the resolution limit or a recording mark having a size equal to or larger than the resolution limit but close to the resolution limit in this manner, a high reproduction output can be obtained and a high reproduction durability can be achieved for each of the all recording marks in the recording mark train.

It is an object of the present invention to provide an optical recording disc which can record data constituted by a recording mark train including recording marks and blank regions neighboring recording marks therein and reproduce the data therefrom in a desired manner even in the case where the lengths of a recording mark and a blank region between neighboring recording marks are shorter than the resolution limit and whose storage capacity can be markedly increased. An optical recording disc is constituted so that data are recorded therein and data are reproduced therefrom with the irradiation with a laser beam and includes a laminated body formed by laminating a decomposition reaction layer 5 containing platinum oxide as a primary component and a light absorbing layer 7 so as to sandwich a second dielectric layer 6. The optical recording disc is further constituted so that when it is irradiated with the laser beam, a bubble pit is formed in the decomposition reaction layer 5 and fine particles of platinum precipitate into the bubble pit, thereby forming a recording mark in the decomposition reaction layer 5 and each of the fine particles of platinum has a particle diameter of 2 nm to 15 nm.

A method for reproducing data according to the present invention is adapted for reproducing data recorded in an optical recording disc including a multi-layered body formed by forming a decomposition reaction layer containing noble metal oxide as a primary component and a light absorption layer so as to sandwich a dielectric layer therebetween by irradiating a laser beam onto the optical recording disc and forming a recording mark train including at least one of a recording mark having a length shorter than a resolution limit and a blank region having a length shorter than the resolution limit therein, and is constituted by changing the read power Pr of the laser beam in accordance with a readout linear velocity at which data are to be reproduced from the optical recording disc. According to the thus constituted method for reproducing data, even in the case where the length of a recording mark or the length of a blank region between neighboring recording marks is shorter than the resolution limit, it is possible to record and reproduce a recording mark train including these recording marks and the blank regions. Therefore, this method can be applied to an optical recording medium whose storage capacity is markedly increased.

A super-resolution information recording medium, a recording/reproducing apparatus, and a recording/reproducing method uses an information recording medium provides a super-resolution effect by fluid bubbles. The fluid bubbles are formed in at least a portion of the medium by a light beam radiated to reproduce a signal from the information recording medium. Accordingly, the super-resolution information recording medium has improved optical characteristics, so that better recording/reproduction is possible.

A method for determining a read power of a laser beam according to the present invention includes a step of setting a power of a laser beam to a recommended recording power Pw′ and forming a recording mark train including at least one of a recording mark having a length shorter than a resolution limit and a blank region having a length shorter than the resolution limit in an optical recording disc, thereby recording test data therein, a step of setting the power of the laser beam to a recommended read power Pr′ and reproducing the test data recorded in the optical recording disc, a step of judging whether or not signal characteristics of a reproduced signal obtained by reproducing the test data satisfies reference conditions, and determining an optimum read power of the laser beam based on the result of the judgment. According to the thus constituted method for determining a read power of a laser beam, even in the case where the length of a recording mark or the length of a blank region between neighboring recording marks is shorter than the resolution limit, it is possible to record and reproduce a recording mark train including these recording marks and blank regions. An optical recording medium includes a substrate, a first dielectric layer, a recording layer, a second dielectric layer, a super-resolution layer, and a third dielectric layer, which are provided in that order. The super-resolution layer is formed of a material configured such that voids are generated when the material is irradiated with DC light at a predetermined irradiation power for 1 to 300 seconds. Therefore, super-resolution reproduction can be made such that the irradiation power of a readout laser beam does not depend on the size of a recording mark.
