The device 100 includes detectors 130, 140 for detecting a document-stack state of at least one of a feeder and an output tray 111, 112 provided on the body 110, a driver 160 for driving the body 110 to be pivotably opened in an upward direction from the platen 210, an instructor 179 for giving an instruction for the driving, and a controller 172 for, based on a detection result of the detectors 130, 140 in priority to the instruction, to permit or forbid the driving, or to control an amount of the driving. When the device body is automatically opened, documents in the feeder or the output tray are unlikely to fall off.

Above the reading glass (40), a brush type cleaner (45) is disposed to face to the reading position (A) and to be capable of rotating. At a downstream position from the cleaner (45) with respect to a document feeding direction (B), a duster (46) is disposed for a dusting operation to remove dust from the cleaner by slapping against the cleaner (45). Before the leading edge of the document (D) comes to the reading position (A), the cleaner (45) rotates to clean the reading glass (40), and while the document (D) is covering the reading glass (40), the duster (46) slaps against the cleaner (45) to dust the cleaner (45).

    摘要: Copying apparatus is provided in which outline copying for only a designated area of an original image can be easily selected. An area for the outline copying can be designated and images inside and outside the designated area can be copied in different colors. The arrangement includes a plurality of keys for designating an area of an original image to be copied and a scorotron charger for causing a potential in areas other than the outline portions of an electrostatic latent image, formed on a photoreceptor drum, to be substantially equal to a potential in an area containing the image. An eraser unit is provided for erasing the charge in an area where development is not required and a developing device develops the electrostatic latent image. A transfer charger is provided for transferring the image developed by the developing device onto copying paper. When an area of the original images designated and an outline image forming mode is selected by the operator of the machine, two copy operations are performed to composite an outlined image formed inside or outside the designated area and a normal image formed in the area which does not include the outline image so that a composite image is copied onto the copy paper.
