摘要: A driving method, able to realize a PDP device having a reduced background luminance and high display quality, has been disclosed. The driving method is a method for driving a plasma display panel consisting of plural display electrodes forming pairs of electrodes, plural address electrodes, and display cells formed at the intersections of the pairs of electrodes and the address electrodes, comprising an initialization period, an address period, a charge form period during which a charge form pulse is applied to the pair of electrodes, and a sustain discharge period during which a sustain discharge light emission is caused to occur, wherein the initialization period comprises a write period during which first amount of charges is accumulated in the display cells and a charge adjust period during which the amount of charges accumulated during the write period is adjusted to second amount of charges, and wherein the voltage to be applied to the pair of electrodes is an inclined wave-shaped charge adjust pulse, the voltage of which varies gradually and the absolute value of the voltage of the charge form pulse is greater than the absolute value of the voltage of the sustain discharge pulse.

摘要: A progressive display is realized that has an electrode structure in which two neighboring rows share a display electrode. A PDP has display electrodes arranged so that two neighboring rows share one electrode for display, and the display electrodes crosses an address electrode in each column. A row selection is performed by temporarily biasing one display electrode Yj of the electrode pair corresponding to the selected row to the selecting potential Vy, while an addressing is performed by controlling the potential of the address electrode Ak in accordance with the display data. At that time, the cell-selecting voltage Vay that is applied to the interelectrode AY between the display electrode Yj and the address electrode Ak made lower than the discharge starting voltage VAY of the interelectrode AY. 摘要: A driving method of a plasma display panel having a display electrodes arranged at the ratio of three per two rows is provided, in which all rows are lighted in sustaining period from an addressing period to the next addressing period and electromagnetic interference is reduced sufficiently. A display discharge is generated by controlling potentials of the display electrodes so as to satisfy two conditions. One condition is that there is a pair of display electrodes having terminals at the same side of the display screen and current directions opposite to each other. Another condition is to generate a potential difference across the display electrodes, which is necessary for discharging. Magnetic fields are canceled by each other in the pair of electrodes having current directions opposite to each other, so that electromagnetic interference is reduced.

摘要: A plasma display panel and a method of driving the same are provided in which circuit elements necessary for controlling potentials of scan electrodes can be reduced without using a complicated multilayered wiring. In the plasma display panel, k (k≧2) data electrodes, each of which is continuous from one end of a column to the other end, are arranged for each column of a matrix display. All scan electrodes in a display screen are classified into k groups, and one of k groups is assigned to k data electrodes in each column. Each data electrode is crossed with or opposed to scan electrodes belonging to the group that is assigned to the data electrode without overlapping a partition in a plan view and is crossed with or opposed to other scan electrodes with overlapping the partition.
