    摘要: Plural range images having different resolutions are generated from an input range image and normal vectors are calculated for each generated range image. An edge map is formed for each of the plural range images based on the calculated normal vectors and a single edge map is formed by synthesizing the plural formed edge maps. Polygon data describing the surface shape of an object represented by the input range image are formed based on the synthesized edge map. Polygon data of high precision that represents characteristics of the surface shape of the object is thereby formed with little data.

    摘要: Disclosed is an image processing method for executing color processing on an input image and outputting processed data to an output unit. The method comprises the steps of setting color processing conditions in accordance with an instruction from users, and executing color processing in accordance with the color processing conditions set in the above step, setting of the color processing conditions being selectively made in one of an automatic mode in which the color processing is automatically executed in accordance with a preset combination of object types and the color processing conditions, a semiautomatic mode in which the same color processing is set regardless of object types, and a manual mode in which a combination of object types and the color processing conditions is set in accordance with an instruction from users. An image forming apparatus and a recording medium for implementing the method are also disclosed. A setting process convenient for all kinds of users is provided, and color reproduction can be realized in response to various demands of users.

    摘要: According to this invention, encoded data of a target data amount is generated by one image input operation while both lossless encoding and lossy encoding are adopted. For this purpose, a first memory stores encoded data of a shorter encode length among encoded data generated by a first encoding unit which performs lossy encoding and encoded data generated by a second encoding unit which performs lossless encoding. A second memory stores encoded data from a second encoding unit. When an encoding sequence control unit determines that the encoded data amount in the first memory has exceeded the target data amount, the encoding sequence control unit discards data in the first memory, sets a quantization parameter for a higher compression ratio for the first encoding unit, and causes the first encoding unit to execute encoding. Encoded data before the encoded data amount is determined to have exceeded the target data amount is re-encoded by a re-encoding unit.
