    摘要: A method for affixing a thermal dye transfer image to a magnetic substrate comprising:a) applying a heat-activatable adhesive on a release paper to a magnetic substrate;b) peeling off the release paper;c) imagewise heating a dye-donor element in face-to-face contact with an intermediate dye-receiving element comprising a dye-receiving layer which is weakly bonded to a substrate, thereby creating an image on the intermediate dye-receiving element;d) laminating the imaged intermediate dye-receiving element in face-to-face contact with the heat-activatable adhesive layer on the magnetic substrate;e) applying heat and/or pressure to the assemblage sufficient to activate the adhesive; andf) peeling off the weakly bonded support of the imaged intermediate dye-receiving element, thereby forming a thermal dye transfer image on the magnetic substrate.

    摘要: A process of controlling the gloss of a thermal dye transfer image comprising: (a) imagewise-heating a dye-donor element comprising a support having thereon a dye layer comprising an image dye in a binder, the dye-donor being in contact with a dye-receiving element, thereby transferring a dye image to an image-receiving layer of the dye-receiving element to form the dye transfer image; and (b) thermally transferring a protection layer on top of the transferred dye image, the protection layer being applied from an element which contains unexpanded synthetic thermoplastic polymeric microspheres, the microspheres having a particle size in the unexpanded condition of from about 5 to about 20 &mgr;m, the protection layer being transferred using a given energy level in order to expand the microspheres until a desired gloss level is obtained.

    摘要: A cyan dye-donor element for thermal dye transfer comprises a support having thereon a cyan dye dispersed in a polymeric binder, the cyan dye comprising a 2-carbamoyl-4-[N-(p-substituted aminoaryl)imino]-1,4-naphthoquinone.In a preferred embodiment, the cyan dye has the formula ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1, R.sup.2, and R.sup.5 are substituted or unsubstituted alkyl, cycloalkyl, or aryl; andR.sup.3 and R.sup.4 are hydrogen; substituted or unsubstituted alkyl; halogen; --NHCOR.sup.1 or --NHSO.sub.2 R.sup.1.
