    摘要: A method for affixing a thermal dye transfer image to a magnetic substrate comprising:a) applying a heat-activatable adhesive on a release paper to a magnetic substrate;b) peeling off the release paper;c) imagewise heating a dye-donor element in face-to-face contact with an intermediate dye-receiving element comprising a dye-receiving layer which is weakly bonded to a substrate, thereby creating an image on the intermediate dye-receiving element;d) laminating the imaged intermediate dye-receiving element in face-to-face contact with the heat-activatable adhesive layer on the magnetic substrate;e) applying heat and/or pressure to the assemblage sufficient to activate the adhesive; andf) peeling off the weakly bonded support of the imaged intermediate dye-receiving element, thereby forming a thermal dye transfer image on the magnetic substrate.

    摘要: A dye-receiving element for thermal dye transfer includes a support having on one side thereof a dye image receiving layer. Receiving elements of the invention are characterized in that the dye image-receiving layer primarily comprises a mixture of a crosslinked polymer network being formed by the reaction of a multifunctional isocyanate with: a) a polycarbonate polyol having at least two terminal hydroxy groups and an average molecular weight of about 1000 to about 10,000, andb) an aliphatic glycol having at least one of the following formulas:HO--(CH.sub.2).sub.n --OHHO--[(CH.sub.2).sub.n --O].sub.m --H orHO--[(CH.sub.2).sub.5 --CO.sub.2 ].sub.p --[(CH.sub.2).sub.n --O].sub.m --H where n is between about 3 and about 10,m is between about 3 and about 60, andp is between about 1 and about 16.

    摘要: Printer apparatus and method for printing an image on a receiver, the printer having a non-contact heater for improving image protection and image stability on the receiver. The printer comprises a printhead for transferring a colorant to the receiver and a heater disposed in heat transfer communication with the receiver for heating the receiver, so that the colorant diffuses into the receiver. The heater is located adjacent to the receiver. The heater comprises a heating element capable of emitting radiant heat therefrom and includes a reflector oriented with respect to the heating element and the receiver so as to reflect heat from the heating element to the receiver. The heater also comprises a heater control arrangement connected to the heating element for controlling the heating element. Moreover, the heater may further include a temperature sensor disposed relative to the receiver to more accurately control the receiver temperature, by controlling the heater in response to the temperature sensed by the temperature sensor. A receiver transport mechanism capable of engaging the receiver and transporting the receiver adjacent the heater is also provided.
