Abstract: A rechargeable battery device, specifically a scalable 3D lithium metal anode, and a method of manufacturing the same is disclosed. The scalable 3D electrode can serve as a lithium (Li) metal host that enables stable lithium metal cycling. Furthermore, the electrode can be fabricated by coating a slurry of well mixed LiNO3, carbon black, and PVDF on a Cu foil. For example, a 3D electrode can include a binder and a plurality of additives, wherein the plurality of additives comprise at least one conductive additive and at least one solid electrolyte interface (SEI) formation additive. The conductive additive can include electronic conductors, where the conductors are selected from a group consisting of carbon black, carbon nanotubes, carbon fibers, vapor grown carbon fiber (VGCF), graphite, and graphene. The SEI formation additives are selected from a group consisting of LiNO3, RbNO3, KNO3, CsNO3, LiFSI, LiAsF6, LiF, Li2O, Li2CO3, Li3PO4, SiO2, and Li3N.

Abstract: A battery may include a first electrode, a second electrode, an electrolyte, and at least one acoustic device configured to generate acoustic streaming during a charging and/or a discharging of the battery. The charging of the battery may trigger cations from the first electrode to travel through the electrolyte and deposit on the second electrode while the discharging of the battery may trigger cations from the second electrode to travel through the electrolyte and deposit on the first electrode. The acoustic streaming may drive a mixing and/or a turbulent flow of the electrolyte, which may increase a charge rate and/or a discharge rate of the battery by increasing diffusion rate of cations and/or anions. The mixing and/or the turbulent flow may further prevent a formation of dendrites on the first electrode and/or the second electrode by at least homogenizing a distribution of the cations and/or anions in the electrolyte.

Abstract: Materials, designs, methods of manufacture, and devices are provided for an anode material for a rechargeable lithium-ion battery. For example, an anode material may include Li3±xV2±yO5±z. 0≤x≤7, 0≤y≤1, and z may be based on the charge resulting from Li3±x and V2±y. Also, a cell can include a lithiated anode material. The lithiated anode material may include Li3±xV2±yO5±z. The lithiated anode material may be casted on a first substrate to form a lithiated anode, having a separator stacked on the lithiated anode. The separator may include electrolytes. A cathode can be stacked on the separator. The cathode being formed by casting a cathode material on a second substrate.
