Abstract:
A process for recovering solid reaction products during partial oxidation of hydrocarbons in a liquid solvent as a reaction medium by multi-stage evaporative crystallization includes determining a final temperature of the multi-stage evaporative crystallization based on a melting point of the solvent. The pressure and temperature of the solvent is reduced in steps via successive crystallization stages until the final temperature is reached. Each of the crystallization stages includes a compressor configured to perform the reducing of the pressure and to withdraw vapors formed. The vapors from the compressor of a lower expansion pressure crystallization stage are introduced into a vapor discharge conduit of a next successive higher expansion pressure crystallization stage upstream of the compressor of the higher expansion pressure crystallization stage.

Abstract:
A gateway and method for distinguishing between different types of messages without requiring the gateway to be fully aware of the communication protocol. The gateway passes through messages from application entities to network elements and vice versa. The gateway determines a transaction identifier or sequence step information, and compares the transaction identifier or sequence step information with ones previously stored. The comparison result is used to determine whether a message is an initial message or a response message to the initial message, and whether the message is a first or subsequent message, respectively.
Abstract:
A method of updating a file attached to an electronic document can include attaching a file to an electronic document and storing a reference to the attached file. The reference can specify a location from which the attached file was obtained. Responsive to a user input, the attached file can be replaced with a file specified by the reference. The attached file also can be updated from newly specified locations.
Abstract:
A method for providing information to requestors that includes the step of receiving a request from a remotely located information requestor. The request can be associated with an information controller and with a designated purpose. A transaction can be initiated to handle the request and to deliver a result to an information receiver. A record store can be queried for information associated with the information controller and associated with the designated purpose. The information requestor and the information receiver may not be authorized to directly access content of the record store. At least one request result can be generated based at least in part upon information returned from the querying step. Each request result can correspond to each information receiver and be tailored for information privileges of the information receiver. The information privileges can be established by the information controller. The request result can be conveyed to the information receiver.
Abstract:
A method of permitting controlled access to medical information can include establishing a storage means for containing medical information and establishing a means for accessing the medical information. The method further can include controlling the means for accessing the medical information according to a type of entity accessing the medical information, wherein access is limited according to the type of entity.
Abstract:
A self calibrating imaging display system (100). The imaging display system (100) can include a screen (110) having integrated photosensors (115). The photosensors can detect luminance values (155) correlating to luminance levels of the screen. The luminance values can be forwarded to a calibration module (130) which can receive the luminance values as an input and generate luminance correction factors (165). The luminance correction factors can be applied to adjust the luminance of the screen. Accordingly, images can be displayed on the screen with proper luminance levels.

Abstract:
A method (10) of determining an unsolicited caller can include receiving (12) a call from a caller, requesting (15) a voice sample from the caller, analyzing (16) the voice sample using speech recognition to provide an analyzed voice sample which can be transcribed to provide a text output, and comparing (18) the text output with a database (20 or 22) of authorized callers. In a specific embodiment, the voice sample requested can include the name of the caller which is transcribed as text output and compared. The call can proceed (14) if the text output matches information in the database and can otherwise transfer to voice mail or terminate (30) if the text output fails to match information in the database or alternatively matches information indicating an undesired caller. If a caller with a known caller identification (13) is received, the call can also proceed.
