摘要: Disclosed herein is a method comprising: (a) adding an aqueous solution comprising a quaternary ammonium salt to an organic solvent in a vessel under an inert atmosphere, thereby forming a first mixture comprising the quaternary ammonium salt and the solvent; and (b) mixing the first mixture at a temperature and for a time sufficient to remove water and a portion of the solvent from the first mixture, wherein the mixing is performed in an inert atmosphere and the temperature is less than the decomposition temperature of the quaternary ammonium salt.

摘要: Disclosed is a method for preparing an alkali metal salt of a hydroxy-substituted hydrocarbon which comprises the steps of (i) contacting in solvent media at least one hydroxy-substituted hydrocarbon with a base comprising an alkali metal cation; and (ii) devolatilizing the solvent media comprising alkali metal salt by adding or spraying the solvent media into a substantially water-immiscible organic solvent, said solvent being at a temperature greater than the boiling point of solvent media at the prevailing pressure. In one embodiment the solvent media comprises water, and optionally at least one water-soluble protic organic solvent.

摘要: Quaternary salts having a double helix structure are prepared by the reaction of dihydroxyaromatic compound, preferably a bisphenol, with an alkali metal hydroxide and a quaternary salt, such as a tetraalkylammonium or hexaalkylguanidinium chloride. The quaternary salts and their alkaline hydrolysis products are useful as catalysts in various reactions, including imide formation from bisphenol salts and halo- or nitro-substituted phthalimides and redistribution and equilibration of polycarbonates.

摘要: An emulsion polymerization process for the preparation of polybutadiene grafted with styrene and acrylonitrile monomers in a reaction system is provided. The resultant product has a low end content of unreacted residual monomers, low yellowness index, and improved impact strength. The diene rubber is prepared via a process wherein a chain transfer agent is added on a continuous basis to give a rubber substrate having a low crosslink density. In one embodiment of the invention, the process includes charging the reaction system with a pre-selected diene emulsion with a low crosslink density, adding a first portion of at least one of a styrene monomer and acrylonitrile monomer to the diene emulsion, adding to the reaction system, over a predetermined time, an initiator and a second portion of acrylonitrile and styrene monomer, and polymerizing the catalyzed reaction mixture of diene substrate, styrene and acrylonitrile to form ABS graft polymers. In another embodiment, a third monomer is added after the conversion rate of the monomers is greater than 98%.
