摘要： An approach for processing a call over a telecommunications system is disclosed. A call processor (e.g., a Service Control Point (SCP)) communicates with a switch to provide an alternative route for a call, received by the switch, that is determined to be a local portability number (LNP). A database coupled to the call processor stores the alternative routes associated with the LNP call; at least one of the alternative routes specifies a route that bypasses a local exchange network capable of terminating the call, whereby local access charges are avoided.

摘要： A database management system and method for operation allow both key compression and quick indexed retrieval of nodes. The system includes a processor, memory and a modified skip list data structure with compressed search keys. The prior art skip list structure is modified so that each node has only one other node pointing to it. This allows search keys to be compressed based on the key of the previous node. Key compression allows the data structure to use less memory than is otherwise possible.

摘要： A telephone call may be received or made by the user of telephony-enabled apparatus in circumstances, such as during a meeting, where spoken responses by the user to what the other party to the call has said are unacceptable. A telephony method and arrangement are disclosed which permits a user to use silent input to the telephony-enabled apparatus in order to generate a response to the other party to the call. Response generation is facilitated by enabling the user to effect a selection from the content of the other party's input, or from options derived from that input, with this selection then being used in forming the response.

摘要： A communications manager in a telecommunications transaction server communicates service request messages and service response messages between one or more remotely executing service request processes and one or more service applications executing on the transaction server. A main thread in the communications manager monitors connections requests and initializes other threads. A unique logical communications connection is established between one of the service request processes and the communications manager. The communications manager creates both a read thread and a write thread for each logical communication connection that is validated and active. The read thread communicates service request messages from a service request process to an appropriate service application. The write thread communications service response messages from the service application to the service request process that issues the service request message. A monitor thread collects service response messages from a queue and directs them to the appropriate write threads via an in-memory write queue.
