    摘要: A method for performing a link aggregation on a link aggregation group, comprising a plurality of transport links, for sessions received at a first network node which is connected to a second network node via the link aggregation group. The method, which is to be executed in the first network node, enables link aggregation optimization for the sessions destined for the second network node by selectively choosing transport link for the sessions on the basis of the load of the transport links. The suggested link aggregation results in a packet load balancing and improved bandwidth utilization. An arrangement suitable for executing the suggested method is also provided.

    摘要: Method and arrangement for obtaining unambiguous addressing for data packets communicated between devices (E1B, E3A) in two different local networks (A,B) using potentially overlapping private IP address spaces. A VPN tunnel is initially established between gateways (102,104) in the two local networks and an internal IP address space is defined in each network for devices in the opposite network, not overlapping with an internal IP address space used for its own devices. When the gateway (102) of one network receives a data packet from a device (E1B) in the opposite network, the packet's header is modified by changing the destination and source addresses, which belong to address spaces valid in the opposite network, into addresses belonging to address spaces valid in the present network.

    摘要: Embodiments of the present invention include a communications network using end-to-end tunnels. A control unit monitors the traffic load on at least two paths, as well as determines a power saving traffic distribution if the total traffic on the at least first and second paths if the traffic load does not exceed the capacity of both or all paths between the same end nodes. The power saving traffic distribution puts at least one of the first and second paths in a standby mode in which it carries no traffic. A command unit redirects traffic according to the power saving distribution and to order at least one network element or at least one link in the path or paths to be put in standby mode to enter into a power saving standby mode.

    摘要: Method and arrangement for communication of data packets between a first device (D1) in a first local network (A) and a second device (D2) in a second local network (B). where private IP addresses are used for devices present in the first and second local networks. A first gateway (100) of the first network updates (1:1) a local name server record (100a) with a domain name and an IP address of a second gateway (102) of the second network, each gateway having a local DNS function. When an outgoing DNS request is received (1:2) from the first device referring to a hostname of the second device, the IP address of the second gateway is determined (1:3) from the local name server record based on a domain name in the hostname. A DNS request is then sent (1:4) to the second gateway using the determined IP address, to obtain a current private IP address of the second device in a DNS response (1:5) from the second gateway. A DNS response is then forwarded (1:8) to the first device, referring to the current private IP address of the second device.

    摘要: Apparatus for performing load balancing among network servers connected to an internal IPv6 network. The apparatus comprises a first interface coupled to an external IPv4 or IPv6 network for receiving packets sent across the external network and an IP packet creator coupled to said first interface. This IP packet creator is configured, for each received packet at that interface, to select a network server to be allocated to the packet or identify an already allocated network server. The IP packet creator is further configured to create a corresponding IPv6 packet for transmission over said internal network to the selected or identified network server. The apparatus further comprises a second interface coupled to said internal IPv6 network for transmitting created IPv6 packets across the internal network towards respective selected or identified network servers.

    摘要: End-to-end communication in a communications network is controlled by determining, based on monitoring of traffic in the communications network, the number of paths, or links, needed between the first and the at least second network element. If it is determined, based on the traffic load, that not all available paths are needed:—Selecting at least one path that should not be used to carry traffic,—Rerouting any traffic using the selected at least one path to at least one alternative path, and—Placing any network elements or links not carrying traffic after the rerouting in standby mode in which the power consumption of the elements is reduced, to reduce the power consumption in the network.
