    摘要: An image processing apparatus capable of achieving compatibility between extension of a viewing angle characteristic and an improvement in motion picture response while reducing a sense of flicker in an image display having a sub-pixel configuration is provided. The image processing apparatus includes: a detection means for detecting a motion index and/or an edge index of an input picture for each pixel; a frame division means for dividing a unit frame period of the input picture into a plurality of sub-frame periods; and a gray-scale conversion means for selectively performing adaptive gray-scale conversion on luminance in a pixel where a motion index and/or an edge index larger than a predetermined threshold value is detected so that, while allowing the time integral value of the luminance signal within the unit frame period to be maintained as it is, a high luminance period and a low luminance period are allocated to sub-frame periods in the unit frame period, respectively. The gray-scale conversion means performs adaptive gray-scale conversion on luminance for each sub-pixel so that the plurality of sub-pixels in each pixel have different display luminance from each other.

The output signal generation section generates output video signals corresponding to the respective four colors, based on the input video signals, and generates a lighting signal of the light source section, based on the input video signals, to perform a predetermined dimming processing, based on both the input video signals and the generated lighting signal, and finally generates the output video signals through performing a predetermined color conversion processing, based on a resultant video signal from the dimming processing.

    摘要: The present invention provides an image processing device and an image display system achieving image quality improvement in moving picture by suppressing a motion blur in a hold-type display device, while maintaining low cost. The image processing device processes image data provided from outside and outputting the image data to a hold type display device. The image processing device includes a correction processing section performing a correction process to correct a pixel value in the image data for each pixel through performing a spatial HPF (high pass filter) process on the image data in a frame to be displayed in the display device according to a magnitude of a motion vector in the image data, the HPF process allowing an overshoot region and an undershoot region to be provided in a vicinity of both ends of the changing edge portion in the image data.

    摘要: Disclosed is a transmissive liquid crystal projector carrying a vertical alignment liquid crystal device. The liquid crystal projector includes a liquid crystal panel (25), on the light incident side and on the light radiating side of which a light incident side polarizing plate (24) and a light radiating side light polarizing plate (26) are arranged, respectively. A first polarized light component in a light beam collected by an illuminating optical system is transmitted through the light incident side polarizing plate (24) and routed to the liquid crystal panel (25). An optical anisotropic device (45), tilted by a preset angle correlated with the direction of alignment of liquid crystal molecules in the liquid crystal panel (25), that is, a pre-tilt angle, is arranged between the light incident side polarizing plate (24) and the liquid crystal panel (25) or between the light radiating side light polarizing plate (26) and the liquid crystal panel (25). By so doing, a high contrast ratio may be maintained, while transmittance of the liquid crystal panel may be improved.
