摘要： A liquid crystal display includes: a light source section including light-emission subsections controlled separately from one another; a liquid crystal display panel modulating, based on an input picture signal, light emitted from each light-emission subsection to display pictures; and a display control section including a partitioning-drive processing section which generates a light-emission pattern signal representing a two-dimensional pattern formed from lighting light-emission subsections and a partitioning-drive picture signal based on the input picture signal, the display control section performing a light-emission drive on each light-emission subsection based on the light-emission pattern signal and performing a display-drive on the liquid crystal display panel based on the partitioning-drive picture signal. The partitioning-drive processing section determines, based on the input picture signal, a barycentric position in a partitioned picture corresponding to each light-emission subsection, and generates the light-emission pattern signal and the partitioning-drive picture signal based on the barycentric position.

摘要： A liquid crystal display includes: a light source unit that includes a light-guiding plate with a light-exit plane partitioned into emission subsections, and one or plural sides, and light sources; a liquid-crystal-display panel that includes pixels, and modulates light emitted from the light source unit, thereby performing image display; and a display control unit that includes a partitioning-drive processing section generating each of a light-emission pattern signal and a partitioning-drive image signal, performs light-emission driving for each light source, and performs display driving for each pixel. The partitioning-drive processing section performs a gain correction of multiplying each pixel signal in the input image signal by a predetermined gain factor that is set so that a value increases as a pixel position of the pixel signal goes away from the light source, and generates the light-emission pattern signal and the partitioning-drive image signal, by using gain-corrected pixel signal.

摘要： The image display device includes a light source section having light emitting subsections; a display panel; and a display control section performing a control. An input frame image is decomposed into a plurality of field images and the field images are displayed in a field sequential manner. A differential image for each of the three primary-color components is obtained by subtracting a common luminance portion from the subsection-drive frame image. The differential image and a common image configured of the common luminance portion are sequentially outputted to the display panel in a time-divisional manner. In the first field period for outputting the differential image of a primary color component, corresponding primary color light is emitted, and in a second field period for outputting the common image, multiple kinds of primary color light, corresponding to the primary-color components configuring the common luminance portion, are emitted together.

摘要： In each of stages of a nonlinear filter, a successively determined target signal and plural adjacent signals are weighted-averaged with plural sets of different coefficients to calculate plural smoothed signals. Differences in level between the target signal and each of adjacent signals and signals arranged within the predetermined interval from the each of the adjacent signals are compared with a threshold value. According to the comparison, flags are set to the adjacent signal, to an adjacent signal arranged at a symmetrical position, and to adjacent signals arranged beyond the adjacent signals. The intervals of adjacent signals are different among stages. The target signal in level is used instead of the adjacent signals with smoothed signals, which are selected according to the flags. Weighting coefficients may be calculated on the basis of the comparison result, and smoothed signals may be synthesized according to the weighting coefficients.

The specific area is an edge portion, a portion where a luminance level gradually changes, or a repeated-pattern portion where a spatial frequency is high.
