    摘要: An information center backs up the vehicle-use data of an on-vehicle terminal apparatus. The vehicle-use data used by the on-vehicle terminal apparatus is classified into standard data or custom data. The standard data is used in the same manner by numerous vehicles, while custom data is unique to each vehicle. The custom data is sent unchanged to the information center but, for the standard data, identification codes are sent rather than the raw standard data. This data is backed up and stored in the information center, where they remain available for retrieval should the data on the vehicle side be damaged. Because the volume of backup data is reduced, the communication time can be shortened and the required backup memory capacity in the information center can be reduced.

    摘要: A scanner unit has first and second carriages located below a glass document table. The first carriage has a first frame extending from a front side to a rear side along the document table, i.e. in a main scanning direction. The scanner unit contains, at the front side and the rear side, two rails that support the opposite ends of the first frame such that the first frame can slide in a sub-scanning direction. The scanner unit also contains, at the front side and the rear side, inhibiting elements for receiving a part of the first frame when the first carriage has slid along the rail to a hold position, thereby inhibiting the movement of the first carriage in the main scanning direction, and also for holding another part of the frame together with the rail when the carriage has slid to the hold position, thereby inhibiting the vertically upward movement of the frame.

    摘要: A user inputs a position of a registration point by using an input device of an on-vehicle navigation device. A navigation ECU transmits the position of the registration point as a maintenance request to an information center. A center control section reads from a facility information memory section facility information of a facility existing at the position of the registration point and returns the facility information as maintenance data to the device. In the vehicle, new registration point data including the position of the registration point and the facility information is stored in a customizing information memory section. The user need only perform a simple operation, e.g., inputting of the position in order to obtain rich and detailed information. Furthermore, the registration point data in the memory section is appropriately updated with the updated information of the information center by using data communication with the information center.

    摘要: The present system executed data recovery without affecting other operations in the event that some recorded data has failed. In a database installed on a motor vehicle, program data, map data and the like used to carry out navigation are stored. If any set of these data has failed, a controller evaluates the urgency of recovery of the failed data set. For example, the urgency of recovery is evaluated by determining whether the failed data is part of a program in current use or whether it is map data scheduled to be used directly before long. Even if lower priority data in terms of the urgency of recovery has failed, the request for data recovery is issued at an appropriate delay timing instead of immediately requesting the information center to send that data, so that the influence of the data recovery on normal operation can be decreased.

    摘要: A logic circuit includes a first and a second bipolar transistor forming a signal output circuit; first and a second MOS transistor circuits each for performing a specified logic operation with the input signal, and making or breaking connection between the collector and the base of the first and second bipolar transistors, respectively, in reverse relation to each other.     摘要: On a vehicle side, map data storage section stores map data, which is to be updated by using the latest map data transmitted from an information center. The map data includes map data of a number of types, such as landmark information, drawing data, route calculation data. For drawing data and route calculation data, the information center sends differential data indicative of difference between the latest data held by the center and the map data held by the vehicle. The differential data of the drawing data is stored separately from extant data in the storage section by generating processing section. The differential data of the route calculation data is combined with extant data by restructure processing section to thereby restructure route calculation data. On the other hand, for landmark data, the center transmits full data, which is data corresponding to the entire latest map data, rather than only the difference. The full data is used to overwrite the extant data. As described above, an appropriate update process is performed according to the type of map data.
