Abstract:
A modified blade tip with abrasive coating comprising a blade having a tip with a center between corners proximate a leading edge and a trailing edge, the blade having a top surface, the top surface being modified proximate said corners. The abrasive coating is bonded to the tip at the top surface; wherein the abrasive coating is thicker proximate the corners than at the center of the blade tip.
Abstract:
A method of applying an additive to an abrasive coated blade tip comprises applying the additive to the abrasive coated blade tip and wicking the additive into the abrasive coated blade tip, wherein the additive is configured to prevent adhesion of an organic component of an abradable seal onto the abrasive coated blade tip.
Abstract:
An abradable seal comprises an organic matrix composite comprising an additive and an organic component, the additive is configured to prevent adhesion of the organic component onto an abrasive blade tip.
Abstract:
A turbine engine system comprising a turbine engine air seal having at least one contact portion. The turbine engine air seal having a MAXMET composite bonded to at least one contact portion.
Abstract:
An abrasive tip comprises an additive, the additive is configured to prevent adhesion of an organic component from an abradable seal onto an abrasive blade tip.
Abstract:
A turbine engine system comprising a turbine engine component, such as a fan includes a fan casing and a fan blade rotatable within the fan casing. An abradable seal coupled to the fan casing proximate the fan blade. The abradable seal comprising an abradable composite layer including a MAX phase solid and a polymer based abradable composition.
Abstract:
A method for protecting porous aluminum coatings includes the steps of: providing an orsomil suspension; and rating the porous aluminum coating with said orsomil suspension. The porous aluminum coating may be thermally sprayed coating.
Abstract:
An aluminum coating to be deposited on a substrate having a first coefficient of thermal expansion has an aluminum matrix, and particles of a material having a low coefficient of thermal expansion incorporated into the matrix. The particles bond sufficiently well to the aluminum matrix to carry a portion of the mechanical load.
Abstract:
An abrasive tip comprises an additive layer having an additive; the additive is configured to prevent adhesion of an organic component from an abradable seal onto an abrasive blade tip.
Abstract:
A thermal barrier system includes a protective coating on a substrate, and a ceramic feature layer attached to the protective coating via an adhesive spray coat.
