The data voltages applied to each pixel electrodes are equal a sum of a main data voltage having a square waveform and an auxiliary voltage that is periodically changed at intervals each formed by four continuous frames. An absolute value of the auxiliary voltage is less than a voltage difference between the main data voltage and the common voltage. A sum of the auxiliary voltage is zero in a minimum period.

The processor obtains a target pulse duty value based on the target display brightness value. The driver generates a driving signal based on the target pulse duty value utilizing pulse width modulation techniques for driving the light emitting element so as to adjust the backlight brightness of the light emitting element.

A method for driving the LCD includes a step of analyzing and determining polarities of one column of the pixel units as determining pixels, thereby defining a first polarity group and a second polarity group, and a step of sequentially applying corresponding data signals to a part of the whole pixel units that are arranged at same rows with the first polarity group in a part of a period of a frame. Corresponding data signals are sequentially applied to the other part of the whole pixel units that are arranged at same rows with the second polarity group in another part of a period of a frame.
