    Abstract: A field of view is scanned with a flying spot scanner projecting radiation of a certain wavelength. At the same location, radiation reflected back from the field of view is received by an image dissector tube having a photosensitive surface responsive to the wavelength of radiation being transmitted, to form an electron image. The electron image is scanned over a small aperture of an apertured plate member in the image dissector tube at a rate synchronized with a rate of scanning of the flying spot scanner. The scanning in the image dissector tube may, in effect, start at various predetermined times after the scanning of the flying spot scanner so that fields of view at correspondingly different ranges may be examined. The output of the image dissector is fed to a TV monitor for viewing purposes.
