摘要: A core construction for a nuclear reactor having a multiplicity of fuel cells forming a core in which each fuel cell includes four fuel assemblies arranged in adjacent relationship and one control rod insertable into a position surrounded by the four fuel assemblies. The fuel cells includes first fuel cells each having a relatively high cell mean infinite neutron multiplication factor and including one fuel assembly containing a burnable poison, and second fuel cells each having a relatively low cell mean infinite neutron multiplication factor and including no fuel assembly containing a burnable poison. The first fuel cells are arranged both in a central zone of the core disposed within about one-half the core radius from the center of the core and in a circumferential zone of the core outside the central zone. The second fuel cells are arranged only in the central zone and no second fuel cells are arranged in the circumferential zone. Only the second fuel cells provide control cells in which the control rods are operative to adjust core reactivity changes and power distribution changes during normal power operation of the reactor.

摘要: There is provided a novel initial core arrangement of a nuclear reactor. The fuel assemblies in the central region of the reactor core occupying more than 50% of the total area of the reactor core are grouped into a plurality of fuel units each of which being constituted by four adjacent fuel assemblies. The fuel assemblies in each fuel unit are replaced one by one at each fuel replacement cycle with a new fuel assembly. The initial core is so arranged that each fuel unit has one gadolinia containing high enrichment fuel assembly and three low enrichment fuel assemblies containing no gadolinea. This arrangement permits a stable reactor operation substantially equivalent to that obtained in the state of equilibrium (equilibrium core), even with an initial core.

摘要: A noise removing filter removes noise from an input image and an edge component extracting unit extracts edge components. The edge components are extracted by calculating a difference between the input image and a smoothed image, which is obtained by smoothing the input image in a smoothed image generating portion. An edge component comparing unit compares the extracted edge components with a threshold value and a sum calculating unit calculates the sum of the edge components greater than the threshold value. A control circuit determines, the enhancement degree of the edges based on the sum and averaged luminance of the input image calculated by an average luminance calculating unit. An enhancement degree adjustment unit adjusts the determined enhancement degree, and an edge component enhancement unit enhances the edge components based on this enhancement degree and adds it to the input image to perform edge enhancement processing.

摘要: A method for docking/undocking a portable computer to/from an expansion unit is disclosed. The portable computer includes a main battery, and the expansion unit includes a second battery. In response to an eject event, the condition of the second battery is determined. If the second battery is in a discharging condition, a power supply route is switched from the second battery of the expansion unit to the main battery of the portable computer. If the second battery is in a charging condition, the charging condition is suspended. At this point, a hot undocking of the portable computer from the expansion unit can be performed.
