    摘要: A magnetic recording medium having stable running properties and durability even under the severe environmental conditions of low or high humidity is disclosed. The magnetic recording medium comprises a non-magnetic support and a magnetic layer of a thin ferromagnetic metal film formed thereon, wherein the thin ferromagnetic metal film has thereon at least one member selected from fluorine-containing multi-chain type compounds represented by the following general formula (I):(P).sub.m Q(R).sub.n (I)wherein Q represents (m+n) valent organic residue; R represents a monovalent group comprising a fluoropolyether chain; P represents a monovalent oxo-acid derivative group or a monovalent group which is a salt of an oxo-acid derivative; m represents an integer of 1 or more; and n represents an integer of 2 or more.

    摘要: A ferromagnetic thin metal film type magnetic recording medium is disclosed, comprising a non-magnetic support having thereon a ferromagnetic thin metal film, wherein a perfluoropolyether having at least one polar group having the saturation adsorption amount (mg/m.sup.2) of at least 4.0 mg/m.sup.2 against the ferromagnetic thin metal film is coated or applied onto the surface of the ferromagnetic thin metal film. There is also disclosed a method for preparing a ferromagnetic thin metal film type magnetic recording medium comprising forming a ferromagnetic thin metal film, subjecting the ferro-magnetic thin metal film to a treatment with oxygen gas, ozone gas, a heat treatment or a treatment with an inert gas, and then applying a perfluoropolyether having at least one polar group to the ferromagnetic thin metal film.
