There is provided a multiimage forming apparatus for forming image data onto photo sensitive drums by an electrophotographic system. This apparatus comprises: an image forming circuit to form different images onto the photo sensitive drums; a transfer device to transfer the images on the drums onto the same transfer paper; a conveying belt to convey the transfer paper; a control circuit to control the image forming circuit so as to form registration marks to match the positions of the images onto the drums; CCD detectors to detect the recording positions of the marks; and a correcting circuit to correct at least two of the positional direction in the conveying direction of the belt, the positional deviation in the direction perpendicular to the belt conveying direction, the magnification of the image, and the inclination of the image on the basis of the detection outputs of the detectors. With this apparatus, the positional deviations of the images which occur during the image formation can be accurately corrected, so that the images can be accurately formed on the transfer paper by reading and matching the position matching registration marks.

An image forming apparatus for forming superimposed images includes a plurality of image forming devices each for forming a different image and a registration mark, corresponding to the position of the associated image, on an image transferring medium. The registration mark is formed on a transparent part of the medium and is illuminated from below. A detector above the medium detects the position of the shadow of the registration mark for each image and the result of detection is used to adjust the position of at least one image forming device to produce proper registration between the images formed by the respective image forming devices.

The pair of rotatable members is selectively rotatable at a first peripheral speed lower than the speed at which the conveyor conveys the recording material and a second peripheral speed higher than the first peripheral speed. The pair of rotatable members are rotated at the first peripheral speed to convey the recording material and form a loop of recording material rearwardly of the pair of rotatable members with respect to the direction of conveyance of the recording material, whereafter the peripheral speed of the pair of rotatable members is changed over from the first peripheral speed to the second peripheral speed to suppress the growth of the loop of the recording material.

A toner supplying system for use in combination with a developing device (100) of the type having a conveyor means (300) carrying a plurality of developing units (101) such as to bring the desired developing unit to the developing position for the development of a latent image on an image carrying member (1). The toner supplying system comprises a hopper (201) disposed outside the developing device, a shaft (310) provided in the toner conveyor means, a toner transportation means (202) for transporting the toner from the hopper to the shaft, and a toner passage means (310, 350) through which the toner is supplied from the shaft to respective developing units. The toner passage means includes annular chambers (351) formed between the hollow shaft (310) and an intermediate pipe (350). The annular chambers are separated axially by partition sealing means (354). Toner passage means (225, 450), switchable between open and shut-off states and adapted to take the open state only when their associated developing unit is in a toner supplying position, are also provided. The system further comprises a toner density detecting means (50) for detecting the toner density in the developing agent on the developing unit under development. The toner density detecting means produces, when the detected toner density is too low, a signal for bringing the developing unit to the toner supplying position after completion of the development of the final color on a copying paper under developing operation.

The quantity of deviation such as curvature of field of the scanning optical system can be compensated by a simple structure.
