One is a totally reflective prism section (10) provided at the image generation source side of a Fresnel lens sheet (6). The other is a refractive prism section (11) provided at the image-watching side of the Fresnel lens sheet. The refractive prism section (11) includes a refractive face (e) for refracting incident light and making the light exit toward the image-watching side, a plane (f) approximately parallel to the principal plane of the Fresnel lens sheet, and a connection face (g) for continuously forming the face (e) and the plane (f).

摘要: An image that has been displayed on the display screen of an image generator 1 is first passed through a projection lens section 2 consisting of a front group and a rear group. Next after being reflected on the reflecting surface of a free-form surface mirror 5, the image is further reflected by a planar reflecting mirror 4 and then obliquely projected from the lower section of a projection screen 3 onto the screen 3. The front group of the projection lens section 2 is provided for enlarging the image. In order to correct aberration due to oblique projection onto the projection screen, the rear group uses a free-form surface lens that forms a concave shape with respect to the exit side of light from the lens. The free-form surface mirror 5 corrects trapezoidal distortion due to oblique projection onto the projection screen. The free-form surface lens in the rear group of the projection lens section 2 can accommodate changes in environmental conditions by using one edge as a reference edge and rendering the other edge expandable. The free-form surface mirror can likewise use one edge as a reference edge and render the other edge expandable. For adjustment, the free-form surface mirror can also be pivoted about the reference edge.

摘要: A total reflecting prism portion is formed on an image generation source side of a Fresnel lens sheet which constitutes a rear projection type screen. The total reflecting prism portion is formed in an area in which the angle of incidence of a projection image projected from an optical part on the Fresnel lens sheet is at least about 40·. The total reflecting prism portion causes incident light to be outputted as output light at a predetermined output angle by a total reflection phenomenon after a first refraction phenomenon. A refracting prism portion is formed on an image monitoring side of the Fresnel lens sheet. The refracting prism portion is formed in an area opposed to the portion where the total reflecting prism portion is not formed. The refracting prism portion causes incident light to be outputted as output light at a predetermined output angle by a second refraction phenomenon.

摘要: Images that are bright even on the periphery of a transmissive screen are obtained by reducing reflection loss of the screen when the screen incident angle of the image light entering the upper left and right ends of the screen increases. Incident-side prisms (10), each having at least a plane-of-incidence (c) onto which light comes in, an exit face (d) from which the light that has come in from the plane-of-incidence exits after being refracted, and a refractive face (e) on which the light that has exited from the exit face is refracted and then guided to the image-viewing side of the Fresnel lens sheet (6), are provided in the range where the incident angle of the incoming light becomes equal to or greater than approximately 40 degrees.

摘要: A concave mirror which has rigidity higher than an aluminum foil mirror and is light-weight and low cost compared with a polished glass mirror is composed of at least one concave mirror unit of a synthetic resin material molded to a concave shape and an aluminum reflecting layer vapor deposited on a front or rear surface of the concave mirror unit. A low cost image display device capable of projecting an image onto the concave mirror without using any specially designed projection lens includes at least a projection type cathode ray tube having a flat or substantially flat phosphor surface panel and a transmission type screen and the concave mirror. A multi-screen system which includes a plurality of the image display devices juxtaposed to provide an increased horizontal view angle is provided. Further, a sensory integration system using the image display device is provided.

摘要: In a polarization transforming optics having a polarizing beam splitter (PBS) for transforming x-direction incident light flux from a metal halide light source into a single linearly (z direction) polarized light flux beam heading in the y direction and delivering the beam to, preferably, a light valve of a liquid crystal display (LCD) in a coordinate space, the PBS splits the incident light flux from the light source into split light flux beams, separates the split light flux beams into linearly polarized light flux beams having polarizing directions which are orthogonal to each other, and delivers two linearly polarized outgoing light flux beams having polarizing directions which are orthogonal to each other and heading in directions parallel to a polarizing direction plane. One of the two outgoing light flux beams is deflected by a single mirror to have the same heading direction and polarizing direction as those of the other. The PBS is constructed by jointing together, for example, a quadrangular pyramidal prism and two triangular pyramidal prisms. A PBS film is formed at each joint interface and a surface in contact with air of each prism acts as a total reflection mirror surface. No wave plate is used to provide a compact apparatus having a high light utilization efficiency.
