    摘要: A method is provided to steadily produce a gas discharge panel, such as a PDP, in which a panel and the top of the barrier ribs are in intimate contact in entirety. First a surrounding unit for the gas discharge panel is formed, then a process for sealing the surrounding unit with a sealing material inserted between two panels at the rim is performed while pressure is adjusted so that pressure inside the surrounding unit is lower than pressure outside. With this construction, the panels constituting the surrounding unit are bonded together while they are pressurized from outside. As a result, a panel and the top of the barrier ribs on the other panel are bonded together while they are in intimate contact in entirety. To fully acquire these effects, it is preferable that the adjustment of pressure starts before the sealing material hardens. During, before, or after the sealing step, an energy such as laser beams or ultrasonic waves may be radiated onto the top of the barrier ribs to bond a panel and the top of the barrier ribs in entirety almost without a gap between them.

A plurality of electrodes are formed on the inner major surface of the first or second plate. An electrode diffusion preventive layer is formed in each area where the plurality of electrodes cross over the sealing member, so as to avoid direct contact between the plurality of electrodes and the sealing member. As a result, problems such as breaking of the electrodes can be avoided. This construction is especially effective when the electrodes contain Ag.

    摘要: To provide a display panel, such as a PDP, that can reduce noise caused by a collision sound which occurs when a front panel member and a back panel member vibrate while the display panel is being driven. Projections (21) are provided on a surface of a first panel member facing a second panel member. The first panel member and the second panel member are connected to each other by a connecting material in areas (23) where the projections intersect barrier ribs (18). In this way, noise (noise level) caused by a collision sound which occurs when the front panel member and the back panel member vibrate while the display panel is being driven can be reduced.

    摘要: The present invention provides a gas discharge panel on which color images are accurately displayed and which is easy to manufacture. The first and the second substrates face each other across an interval, forming a discharge space in between, which is filled with a discharge gas. Pairs of electrodes for sustaining discharge are provided on at least one of the two substrates, and phosphor layers are formed on the first substrate, arranged along the electrode pairs to form a matrix of discharge cells. An image is displayed by selectively illuminating discharge cells. Gap members having a given shape are provided between the first and second substrates at locations corresponding to the boundaries between discharge cells.

    摘要: Method and apparatus for manufacturing an electron gun. A beam spot coefficient is obtained from an electrostatic lens magnification and a spherical aberration coefficient of a set resistance distribution. Then, a first process loop is executed to select another resistance distribution that provides an approximate minimum value of the beam spot coefficient. It is then determined whether the beam spot coefficient is an approximate minimum value. The first process loop is repeatedly executed until the beam spot coefficient is determined to be equal to the approximate minimum value. At this point, a second process loop is executed to confirm the minimum value of the beam spot coefficient using an aberration-independent function that is dependent upon the electrostatic lens magnification and is not dependent upon the spherical aberration coefficient. Processing returns to the first process loop using still another resistance distribution as a selected resistance distribution when the beam spot coefficient is not the approximate minimum value.
