    摘要: A magneto-optical disk device, in which data are written and read in and from a magneto-optical disk housed in a magneto-optical disk cartridge having a head window of a predetermined shape, comprises: first and second magneto-optical heads disposed so as to locate in the head window for accessing the magneto-optical disk; a center rail disposed substantially at the center of the window head along a diameter of the magneto-optical disk; a first side rail and a second side rail which are disposed parallelly with each other on both sides of the center rail; a first carriage slidably disposed between the center rail and the first side rail, and having at least a part of the first magneto-optical head mounted thereon; first driving means for driving the first carriage along the center rail; a second carriage slidably disposed between the center rail and the second side rail, and having at least a part of the second magneto-optical head mounted thereon; and second driving means for driving the second carriage along the center rail.

    摘要: A magneto-optical recording apparatus for writing information on a magneto-optical recording medium having at least one pair of magneto-optical storage layers each pair consisting of a first and a second storage layer which have at least one pair of corresponding recording segments, each pair of mutually corresponding recording segments consisting of a first recording segment provided on the first storage layer and a second recording segment provided on the second storage layer. The apparatus includes a first and a second writing/erasing head for writing and erasing information on the first and second storage layers, and a recording controller for activating one of the first and second writing/erasing heads to erase previous information already recorded on corresponding one of the first and second recording segments, while activating the other head to write first new information on the other of the first and second recording segments. Upon reception of a command to write second new information, the recording control means activating the above-indicated other head to erase the first new information recorded on the above-indicated other recording segment, while activating the above-indicated one head to write the second new information on the above-indicated one recording segment.

    摘要: An optical deflector device including a substrate having a thermo-optic effect, a two-dimensional optical waveguide formed on a surface of the substrate, for guiding a light beam therethrough, so as to trap the light beam in a direction of thickness of the substrate, and a device for producing a temperature gradient in the two-dimensional optical waveguide in a direction which is parallel to a plane of the substrate and which intersects the direction of propagation of the light beam through the optical waveguide. Also disclosed is an optical deflector device including a solid deflector element for deflecting a light beam, and an incident-angle changing device for progressively changing an angle of incidence of the light beam upon the solid deflector element. The incident-angle changing device includes a plurality of optical waveguides which are arranged so as to guide the light beam to the solid deflector element. The angle of incidence of the light beam upon the solid deflector element differs depending upon the optical waveguides through which the light beam is selectively guided to the solid deflector element.
