    摘要: A thermal head has heating elements that can be selectively driven independently from one another during a driving operation to directly heat, and thereby thermally activate, regions of a heat-sensitive adhesive layer of a heat-sensitive adhesive sheet while the heat-sensitive adhesive sheet is moved relative to the thermal head with the heating elements disposed in opposing relation to the respective regions of the heat-sensitive adhesive layer. All but at least one of the heating elements are selectively driven so that (a) a preselected region of the heat-sensitive adhesive layer disposed in opposing relation to each non-driven heating element is not directly heated, and thereby not directly thermally activated, by the non-driven heating element, (b) the regions of the heat-sensitive adhesive layer disposed in opposing relation to the respective driven heating elements are directly heated, and thereby directly thermally activated, by the respective driven heating elements, and (c) each preselected region of the heat-sensitive adhesive layer opposed to a non-driven heating element is thermally activated with heat transmitted from surrounding directly heated regions of the heat-sensitive adhesive layer of the heat-sensitive adhesive sheet.

    摘要: A thermal activation device includes a platen lock mechanism for locking a platen roller of a platen unit and a heating unit or printing unit into press contact with each other. The platen lock mechanism has a lock arm mounted to undergo rotation about a rotational axis, a shaft member provided in one of the platen unit and the lock arm, an engagement recess for engagingly receiving the shaft member and provided in the other of the platen unit and the lock arm, and an urging member for urging the lock arm in a direction for bringing the shaft member into engagement with the engagement recess. In a state in which the heating unit or printing unit is in press contact with the platen roller, a distance between the rotational axis of the lock arm and an axis of the shaft member is greater than a distance between the rotational axis of the lock arm and the rotational axis of the platen roller.

    摘要: A heat-sensitive adhesive sheet is thermally activated thoroughly at both ends in a conveying direction and unnecessary heating from heat accumulated in a platen roller is avoided. Driving of heating elements (10) of a thermal activation thermal head is started (T3) before the front end of a heat-sensitive adhesive sheet (1) in a sheet conveying direction enters between the thermal head and a platen roller (12) (T2). A heat-sensitive adhesive layer is thermally activated until the heat-sensitive adhesive sheet is sent past the heat-sensitive adhesive sheet (1). Driving of the heating elements (10) is stopped (T6) after the rear end of the heat-sensitive adhesive sheet (1) departs from between the thermal head and the platen roller 12 (T5). The time period from the start of driving of the heating elements (10) to the entrance of the front end of the heat-sensitive adhesive sheet (1) between the thermal head and the platen roller (12) (T2-T3), and the time period from the departure of the rear end from between the thermal head and the platen roller (12) to the end of driving of the heating elements (10) (T6-T5), are each set shorter than the one it takes for the platen roller (12) to rotate once.

    摘要: A heat-sensitive adhesive layer is thermally activated to develop satisfactory adhesion at improved energy efficiency. A thermal activation thermal head is driven in sync with movement of a heat-sensitive adhesive sheet conveyed, and chosen heating elements stop being driven at a given timing. For instance, while moving the heat-sensitive adhesive sheet, driving of three heating elements (10B, 10F and 10J) and driving of two heating elements (10D and 10H) are alternately stopped whereas five heating elements (10A, 10C, 10E, 10G and 10I) are driven all the time. Supposing that the entire surface of a heat-sensitive adhesive layer is gridded to form a matrix, a region (15A) that is directly heated by none of the opposing heating elements 10 is placed regularly in a manner that makes its surrounding regions (15B to 15I) heated directly by the opposing heating elements. The directly heated regions (15B to 15I) are activated by the opposing heating elements (10) whereas the indirectly heated region (15A) is activated by heat transmitted from the surrounding regions (15B to 15I).
