摘要: A metal gasket having first and second base plates made of metal. In each base plate, at least an opening is defined and a bead is formed around the opening. The second base plate is disposed in parallel with the first base plate with the tip ends of the beads of the first and second base plates facing each other. An annular metallic shim is secured to the first base plate at the side of the bead between the inner periphery of the bead and the opening. And, a resilient sealing member is deposited on the second base plate at the side of the bead around the outer periphery of the bead. A non-vulcanized coating layer of fluoro rubber containing no vulcanizing agent may be deposited on the entire surface of the second base plate at the side of the bead. A vulcanized fluoro rubber may be deposited on the non-vulcanized coating layer at the side of the bead around the outer periphery of the bead.

摘要: The invention is directed to an arrangement for sealing a clearance between a cylinder head and a cylinder block of an engine with a metal gasket clamped therebetween. The metal gasket is formed of a metallic base plate which has a plurarity of openings and beads formed therearound. The base plate may include annular shims welded on the base plate around the openings and a resilient sealing member deposited on the base plate surrounding the openings. The gasket may be disposed in such a manner as to place tip ends of the beads toward the cylinder block which causes a smaller displacement relative to the beads in comparison with the cylinder head. The resilient sealing member may be arranged to have a section of different dimension between a portion located at a side facing the beads and other portion at the opposite side thereof, or between a portion located at a junction where two of the beads meet and other portion.

摘要: A cylinder head gasket comprises a plate, an annular groove formed to surround a combustion chamber opening formed in the plate, a metallic shim fitted into the annular groove, and a full bead located outward of the shim and projecting in the same direction as the shim. The shim is mounted on the plate by an intermittent welding. With this construction, the manufacturing cost can be reduced in comparison to the use of a conventional continuous welding or multi-layer welding. In addition, the thermal deformation of the shim and the plate itself is reduced as compared with when continuous welding or multi-layer welding is used, thus allowing the sealing capability to be improved. In addition, the cylinder head gasket is preferred for use in an engine of a higher combustion temperature than the combustion temperature when the shim is formed of a resinous material.

Plate thicknesses of the gas seal plate, the oil seal plate, and the main plate are made different from each other, the plate thickness of the gas seal plate is larger than the plate thicknesses of the oil seal plate and the main plate, and end portions of the gas seal plate, the oil seal plate, and the main plate are connected to each other. A combustion gas, lubricant oil or the like from a combustion chamber or an oil passage can be effectively sealed, and the cylinder head gasket can be manufactured inexpensively.

摘要: A cylinder head gasket includes a pair of first and second gasket substrates. The gasket substrates are each formed with a first and a second projection which project in opposite directions, with a clearance therebetween. According to a first aspect of the invention, each projection undergoes a plastic deformation toward the clearance defined between them when the gasket substrates are held sandwiched between a cylinder head and a cylinder block, each projection undergoing a magnitude of plastic deformation which is greater or lesser in accordance with the magnitude of a surface pressure therebetween. According to a second aspect of the invention, each projection is formed with a radially central part which projects toward the radially central part of the other projection and which is in close contact with each other continuously in the circumferential direction.

摘要: A method of manufacturing a metal gasket having a base plate and coating layers deposited thereon. A first coating layer (10) having a first vulcanizing agent is deposited on a metallic base plate (1). A second coating layer (20) is deposited on the first coating layer (10) and has a second vulcanizing agent. The first coating layer (10) and the second coating layer (20) are vulcanized with different vulcanized rates from each other. For instance, a cold type vulcanizing coating layer, which is vulcanized at an ordinary temperature, and a hot type vulcanizing coating layer, which is vulcanized at a higher temperature than the ordinary temperature, are formed, and heated at a predetermined temperature to vulcanize only the former, so that two layers having different vulcanized rates from each other are formed to provide a vulcanized layer and an unvulcanized layer on the base plate.
