    摘要: The present invention provides a method for producing an α,β-unsaturated carboxylic acid in high yield. In particular, the present invention resides in a method for producing an α,β-unsaturated carboxylic acid by oxidation of an olefin or an α,β-unsaturated aldehyde with molecular oxygen in liquid phase in the presence of a catalyst containing at least palladium, wherein at least one compound selected from the group consisting of p-methoxyphenol, 4,4′-dihydroxytetraphenylmethane, 1,1,1-tris(p-hydroxyphenyl)ethane, compounds having an N-oxyl group in the molecule and compounds having an N-nitrosyl group in the molecule is caused to be coexistent.

In particular, the present invention resides in a palladium-containing catalyst comprising 0.001 to 0.40 mole of tellurium metal to 1.0 mole of palladium metal. This catalyst can be preferably produced by a method having a step of reducing a compound containing palladium atom in its oxidized state and tellurium atom in its oxidized state by a reducing agent.

In particular, the present invention resides in a method for manufacturing a palladium-containing supported catalyst for producing an α,β-unsaturated carboxylic acid from an olefin or an α,β-unsaturated aldehyde, comprising the step of reducing palladium oxide contained in a catalyst precursor wherein at least the palladium oxide is supported on a carrier. By using such a palladium-containing supported catalyst, an α,β-unsaturated carboxylic acid is produced through liquid-phase oxidation of an olefin or an α,β-unsaturated aldehyde with molecular oxygen.
