摘要: In a copy control method, during a process for the acquisition of a data copy at a designated time, a recovery period of time can still be reduced when an input/output request is issued for copy source data at the designated time. For a system that includes a first storage device in which data are stored, a second storage device that obtains a data copy, and a host computer that writes data to the first storage device, the second storage device obtains blank input/output requests that are issued at predetermined time intervals if the host computer does not generate an input/output request for the first storage device, and the second storage device determines that a time closest to a predetermined data copy acquisition time, which is a target time for the acquisition of a data copy, is a copy execution time for the acquisition of a data copy.

摘要: A computer system and method which stores path definition information including a storage ID, a volume ID, and validities of paths between a host computer and a first or second storage system identified by the storage ID for accessing a volume identified by the volume ID in one of the storage systems, sends an I/O request via the paths, based on the path definition information, receives information indicating the storage and volume IDs, and updates the path definition information. During initial copying from the second to the first volume, validity corresponding to a first path is set to “Invalid” and validity corresponding to a second path is set to “Valid”. After completion of initial copying, the validity corresponding to the first path included in the path definition information is changed to “Valid.”

摘要: A data storing system include a first and second storage system, each including a cache memory and a disk drive, and a third storage system coupled to the first and second storage systems and including a third disk drive to provide a third logical volume based on the third disk drive. First and second write data is transmitted from the first storage system to the second storage system according to copy pair management information. A certain storage system, which is one of the first and second storage systems, destages the second write data from a cache memory of the certain storage system to the third logical volume in the third storage system according to a volume and storage conversion table in the certain storage system.

摘要: A first storage system sets a storage area of a first disk drive as a first volume, and misrepresents an identifier of the storage system and an identifier of the first volume. A second storage system sets a storage area of a second disk drive as a second volume, and misrepresents an identifier of the storage system and an identifier of the second volume. The first storage system copies data of the first volume in the second volume. The second storage system copies data of the second volume in the first volume. A management computer determines whether there is a match between the data of the first volume and the data of the second volume. When it is determined that there is not match, the host computer accesses only one of the first volume and the second volume that stores the latest data.

摘要: Data is placed in tiered storage with a suitable granularity according to application characteristics. The storage apparatus comprises a controller for managing storage areas, provided by storage media of a plurality of types of varying performance, as pools, and for assigning the storage areas in page units to a virtual volume from any tiered storage among a plurality of types of tiered storage which the pool comprises in response to a data write request from the host computer, wherein, for specific data which is managed by the host computer, the controller specifies an area with a high referencing frequency among the specific data on the basis of organization information of the specific data, and moves this area to another of the tiered storage with a higher performance than an already assigned tiered storage.

摘要: An operation site has copy management information including state information that is used when executing a remote copy. The copy management information is stored in a storage device included in each of all storage device subsystems in this computer system. The copy management information is updated every time a remote copy is executed. When the operation site fails, by use of a copy management program in another operatable site, and with reference to the copy management information stored in the storage device of the storage device subsystem in each site, the copy is executed from a point to which the copy processing has progressed before the failure. As a result, when the production site in which an application is operated suffers from a disaster, it is possible to quickly recover data at the time of the disaster by executing a disaster recovery management program from another site in which no failure occurs, and then by restarting the remote copy.
