    摘要: A method of manufacturing a liquid crystal display element capable of easily improving response characteristics without using a large apparatus is provided. After alignment films 22 and 32 made of a polymer compound including a crosslinkable functional group as a side chain and a bulky skeleton such as an adamantane skeleton are formed in a TFT substrate 20 and a CF substrate 30, the alignment films 22 and 32 are arranged to face each other, and a liquid crystal layer 40 including liquid crystal molecules 41 is sealed between the alignment films 22 and 32, and then, in a state where the liquid crystal molecules 41 are aligned to allow long-axis directions thereof to be oblique with respect to a substrate surface, the polymer compound in the alignment films 22 and 32 is reacted to form a polymer compound including a cross-linked structure, and predetermined pretilts are provided to liquid crystal molecules 41A and 41B placed in proximity to the alignment films 22 and 32, respectively.

    摘要: A liquid crystal shutter glass includes: two shutter mechanisms and a drive section. Each of the shutter mechanisms includes a liquid crystal device and is configured so as to alternately perform an opening action and a closing action in a time-divisional manner, the opening action allowing incident light to pass through corresponding one of the shutter mechanisms, the closing action allowing the incident light to be blocked. The drive section controls a switching operation between the opening action and the closing action for each of the shutter mechanisms, while driving the liquid crystal device in each of the shutter mechanisms by means of a polarity inversion method in which a polarity of a drive voltage is alternately inverted. The drive section inverts the polarity of the drive voltage in a period of the opening action.

    摘要: A plurality of images are alternately switched and displayed on the screen in a very short cycle while preventing crosstalk between the images.Because a backlight 12 is lit on the liquid crystal display 10 side after a shutter mechanism on the shutter glasses 20 side has responded sufficiently, there is no adverse effect caused by lack of response at the time of rising of the shutter mechanism. Also, it is possible to raise peak brightness in comparison to the method of keeping the backlight 12 lit at all times, thereby enabling an improvement in brightness when displaying a stereoscopic image. On the other hand, a drop in the temperature of a liquid crystal display panel 11 following extinguishing of the backlight 12 becomes less, and so does deterioration of crosstalk.
