摘要: In a temperature gradient adjustor for a temperature-compensated electronic watch, the temperature gradient adjusting range can be widened without any drop in the temperature gradient adjusting resolution of a temperature sensitive oscillator by adding a roughly temperature gradient adjusting variable frequency divider for variably dividing the frequency of the output of a temperature sensitive oscillator and by operating the temperature gradient adjustor at a value which is prepared by adding a constant numerical value to temperature gradient adjusting numerical information.A constant voltage supplying to a temperature sensitive oscillator can be finely adjusted from external side so as to optimize a linearity of frequency versus temperature characteristic.

摘要: A self-chargeable timepiece includes a pair of small and large capacitors having respective small and large capacities and selectively disconnectably connected at their respective terminals to time-keeping circuitry and a solar cell. The pair of small and large capacitors cooperate with each other during the momentary operation of the solar cell for selectively receiving and storing the electric charge to develop respective terminal voltages across their respective terminals even after the momentary operation of the solar cell. A detector periodically detects the terminal voltages of the small and large capacitors during the time-keeping operation. A switching circuit responds to the detected terminal voltages for selectively connecting and disconnecting the small and large capacitors to and from the time-keeping circuitry to enable the small and large capacitors to selectively power the time-keeping circuitry. A regulating circuit operates when the time-keeping circuitry is powered by the small capacitor for regulating the detector to effect the periodical detection of the terminal voltages at relatively short time intervals and operates when the time-keeping circuit is powered by the large capacitor for regulating the detector to effect the periodical detection of the terminal voltages at relatively long time intervals.

摘要: A circuit for charging capacitors having a power source, a plurality of capacitors for accumulating an electric charge from the power source, switching elements with electrically controllable inputs for connecting or disconnecting at least one of the capacitors to or from the power source, and resistors for setting the switching elements to turn off. These resistors are connected to the control inputs of the switching elements and to one of two terminals of the power source directly so that the resistors consume the electric charge only when the power source supplies the electric charge.

摘要: A method of manufacturing a liquid crystal display device with which response characteristics are able to be easily improved without using major equipment is provided. The method of manufacturing a liquid crystal display device includes steps of forming a first alignment film 22 including a polymer compound having a crosslinkable functional group as a side chain on one substrate of a pair of substrates 20 and 30; forming a second alignment film 32 on the other substrate of the pair of substrates 20 and 30; arranging the pair of substrates 20 and 30 so that the first alignment film 22 and the second alignment film 32 are opposed to each other, and sealing a liquid crystal layer 40 containing a liquid crystal molecule 41 having negative dielectric constant anisotropy between the first alignment film 22 and the second alignment film 32; and bridging the polymer compound to give pretilt to the liquid crystal molecule 41 after sealing the liquid crystal layer 40.

摘要: A liquid crystal display including two substrates arranged opposite to each other; a liquid crystal sealed between the substrates; and a polymer layer for regulating a pretilt angle of liquid crystal molecules and/or tilt directions at a time of driving. One of the substrates has a color filter layer formed on a side of the one substrate, and a plurality of stripe-like electrode patterns are provided on the color filter layer. The patterns are periodically arranged so that when polymerizable components mixed in the liquid crystal layer are polymerized to form the polymer layer while a voltage is applied to the liquid crystal layer between the electrode patterns and a second electrode on the other substrate, liquid crystal molecules in the liquid crystal layer are aligned in the extending directions of stripe-like electrode patterns.

Each of the barrier regions extends in a first direction that is inclined with respect to an array direction of the display pixels, and allows light to transmit therethrough and blocks the light. The liquid crystal barrier section includes a liquid crystal layer, and a first electrode layer and a second electrode layer interposing the liquid crystal layer in between. The first electrode layer includes a plurality of line-shaped electrodes. The line-shaped electrodes extend in the first direction and arranged side-by-side in a second direction different from the first direction, and one or more of the line-shaped electrodes includes first slits and second slits extending in respective directions different from the array direction of the display pixels.

摘要: A liquid crystal display device including a pair of substrates, a liquid crystal layer including liquid crystal molecules disposed between the substrates, an alignment layer disposed above at least one of the substrates, and a polymer disposed on the alignment layer. The device also includes scanning lines and signal lines, a TFT connected to one of the scanning lines and one of the signal lines, and a pixel electrode connected to the TFT and applying driving voltages to the liquid crystal molecules in an area defined by the pixel electrode. The polymer is formed through polymerization of monomers, different from monomers constituting the alignment layer, by active energy ray irradiation, or by both active energy ray irradiation and heat, and is arranged to align the liquid crystal molecules without rubbing so that the liquid crystal molecules in the area form multiple domains when driving voltages are applied from the TFT.
