    摘要: A liquid crystal display apparatus including one pair of substrates, at least one of said substrates being transparent, one pair of polarizing plates arranged on the paired substrates respectively, a liquid crystal layer sandwiched by the paired substrates, a liquid crystal display panel in which an electrode group is formed on at least one of the paired substrates and is to apply an electric field to the liquid crystal layer, and a light source unit arranged on a rear surface of the liquid crystal display panel, a monoaxial absorption anisotropic layer provided between the paired polarizing plates. In such apparatus, a high contrast ratio can be achieved due to suppression of black luminance. Also, better display qualities can be achieved by reducing a blue changing phenomenon of black representation.

    摘要: Provided is a backlit liquid crystal display apparatus having one pixel unit comprising RGB three primary color regions and a white region or a region having low color concentration, so that high brightness can be compatible with color purity. A pixel unit comprises RGB main pixels and G/R sub-pixels. In a lower gray scale, color purity has priority in display with main pixels, while in a higher gray scale, color purity has priority in display with main and sub-pixels, whereby high brightness can be compatible with color purity. Sub-pixels may be consisted only by green sub-pixels.

    摘要: A liquid crystal display device includes a four-color conversion circuit with no chromatic changes in which the chromaticity and luminance of input image data are maintained, a four-color conversion circuit with chromatic changes in which the chromaticity and luminance of input image data are not necessarily maintained, and a selector for switching between the outputs from the two conversion circuits according to a level detection signal from a level detection circuit that detects whether the level of input image data is equal to 100% white level or higher.
