A styrene resin composition excellent in sliding properties which comprises 100 parts by weight of a styrene polymer, 2.0 to 4.0 parts by weight of dimethylsilicone oil having a viscosity ranging from 5,000 to 15,000 centistokes at 25.degree. C. and 0.05 to 8 parts by weight of maleic anhydride monomer or 0.05 to 50 parts by weight of a maleic anhydride-styrene copolymer containing at least 5% by weight of maleic anhydride monomer units is herein disclosed. The styrene resin composition is excellent in sliding properties and thus does not provide a molded product having poor appearance during molding. The styrene resin composition is used to form mechanical parts in the fields of household appliances and office automation apparatuses.

A rubber-modified styrene type resin composition excellent in sliding properties which comprises 100 parts by weight of a rubber-modified styrene type resin and 2.2 to 3.2 parts by weight of dimethyl silicone oil having a viscosity ranging from 5,000 to 15,000 centistokes at 25.degree. C., the styrene type resin comprising 3 to 8% by weight of a rubber-like polymer which is present in the form of microgels having an average particle size ranging from 0.6 to 1.2 micron, and having an intrinsic viscosity of 0.53 to 0.65 and the content of methanol-soluble matter in the range of from 0.5 to 1.5% by weight, is herein disclosed. The rubber-modified styrene type resin composition is excellent in its sliding properties and thus does not provide a molded product having poor appearance during molding. The rubber-modified styrene type resin composition is used to form mechanical parts in the fields of household appliances and OA apparatuses.

A resin composition having excellent antistatic properties and practical physical properties. The resin comprises (i) a styrene resin; (ii) a polyethylene oxide having a viscosity-average molecular weight ranging from 15,000 to 1,200,000; (iii) either or both of a (meth) acrylate resin and an oxide selected from the group consisting of titanium oxide, zinc oxide and magnesium oxide; (iv) either a surfactant selected from specific sulfonic acid salts or a surfactant selected from specific alkyl sulfates; and, optionally, (v) a (poly)ethylene glycol having an average molecular weight ranging from 62 to 1,200. The resin composition also provides excellent resistance to hot water.

A method for cleaning the interior of a molding machine having a residual thermoplastic resin after molding comprises the step of cleaning the interior of a molding machine with a cleaning composition which comprises:(A) 100 parts by weight of a thermoplastic resin;(B) 2 to 100 parts by weight of a polyalkylene oxide glycol having a viscosity-average molecular weight ranging from 10,000 to 1,500,000; and(C) 0.5 to 5 parts by weight, per 100 parts by weight of the sum of the foregoing components (A) and (B), of an alkylsulfate represented by the following general formula (I):R.sub.1 --O--SO.sub.3 M (I) wherein R.sub.1 represents an alkyl group having 8 to 20 carbon atoms and M represents an ion selected from the group consisting of K, Na and NH.sub.4 or a fatty acid salt represented by the following general formula (II):R.sub.2 COOX (II) wherein R.sub.2 represents an alkyl group having 7 to 23 carbon atoms and X represents an ion selected from the group consisting of K, Na, Ca, Mg and Zn.The cleaning method exhibits excellent properties of cleaning molding machines and makes it possible to perform rapid exchange of colors and/or kinds of resins within a single molding machine.
