Within a piston, an annular space is defined between the first and second disc valves. The annular space is selectively communicated with upper and lower fluid chambers defined in a shock absorber cylinder tube via a by-pass path. A variable orifice formed by means of a rotary valve is provided in the by-pass path.

    摘要: A hydraulic damper with a rod guide made by pressing a circular plate is disclosed. This rod guide includes an inner tubular portion defining a bore supporting a piston rod, an outer tubular portion extending in the same direction as the inner tubular portion does, and a flange portion extending radially outwardly from the outer tubular portion. A ring is connected between an inwardly turned axial end portion of an outer tube and the flange portion. An annular sealing element retainer is disposed in the ring. The ring provides a transmission path of a force, thus preventing the sealing element retainer from being subject to the force.

    摘要: A valve timing control system for an internal combustion engine includes a hollow sprocket rotatably supported on a camshaft, and a rotary member housed within the sprocket and rigidly connected to the camshaft for rotation therewith. The rotary member has a pair of radially extending portions, on which a pair of gears are rotatably supported. The sprocket has an internal toothed circumference which is engageable with the gears to cause the gears to rotate in accordance with rotation of the sprocket for causing relative angular displacement of the rotary member to the sprocket. The valve timing control system further includes a pair of stopper pins for regulating relative angular displacement of the intermediate rotary member to the sprocket within a predetermined maximum range, and a clutch mechanism for restricting rotation of the gears. The clutch mechanism is controlled in accordance with a current engine running condition to be associated with the stopper pins for restricting relative angular displacement of the rotary member to the sprocket.

    摘要: An apparatus for use in a variable valve timing and/or valve lift system of an internal combustion engine is disclosed. The apparatus is easy to mount, install and adjust within a space available over a cylinder head of the engine. The apparatus comprises a rocker shaft, a first cam, a second cam, and a rocker arm pivotally mounted on the rocker shaft. The rocker arm includes a first cam follower arranged to engage the first cam and a second cam follower arranged to engage the second cam. The second cam follower is pivotally mounted on the rocker arm. A hydraulically operated locking bolt is movable from an unlocking position to a locking position. In the locking position, the locking bolt is received in bores formed in the rocker arm and in the second cam follower to establish a positive motion state wherein the rocker arm moves with said second cam follower as a unit. A mechanism includes a timing lever and restrains the locking bolt against at least moving out of the unlocking position to the locking position.

    摘要: A suspension control system is designed to adjust suspension characteristics between hard and soft for bounding and rebounding stroke independently of each other. The system has a sensor means for monitoring speed of a vehicular body as a sprung mass for producing a vehicle body speed indicative signal, which vehicle body speed indicative signal has a variable signal polarity depending upon the direction of vibration, and a sensor means for monitoring relative speed between the vehicular body and a vehicular wheel as an unsprung mass for producing a relative speed indicative signal which also has a variable signal polarity depending upon the direction of relative movement of the vehicular body and the vehicular wheel. A control unit detects a combination of signal polarities of the vehicle body speed indicative signal and the relative speed indicative signal for adjusting damping characteristics for bounding and rebounding vibration independently of each other and depending on the detected combination.

This piston includes an oval slipper skirt with a cross sectional profile in the form of an ellipse defined by preselected major and minor axes. A difference between the major and minor axes is gradually increased nearing a lower edge of the skirt. The skirt distorts from an elliptical shape to a round shape when side thrust acts on thrust surfaces of the skirt to provide uniform contact with a cylinder wall.
