摘要: A method for preparing a contact lens containing an ultraviolet (UV) blocker is disclosed. The method involves (a) polymerizing a monomeric mixture comprising (i) one or more contact lens-forming comonomers, and (ii) one or more UV blockers comprising a phenolic group having a protected hydroxyl moiety and one or more ethylenically unsaturated reactive groups to obtain a polymerization product comprising the one or more UV blockers comprising a phenolic group having a protected hydroxyl moiety, and (b) deprotecting the protected hydroxyl moiety of the one or more UV blockers of the polymerization product.

摘要: Fluid delivery devices and methods are described, where the device may comprise a piezoelectric actuator operatively coupled to an ampoule with fluid, under a preloading force. The ampoule may comprise a thin-walled thermoplastic package which includes one or more apertures positioned on the wall of the ampoule. The piezoelectric actuator may be configured to clamp at least partially around the circumference of the ampoule and apply oscillations to its wall. The oscillations, typically in ultrasonic frequency, produce cycles of acoustic pressure in the fluid, leading to ejection of the fluid droplets or streams from the apertures.

摘要: A method of selectively controlling movement of a contact lens in blister packaging comprising a cavity, the method comprising depositing an electric charge at a location in the cavity, securing the contact lens to the blister packaging at the location with the electric charge, and after the step of securing the contact lens, injecting a lens hydrating liquid into the cavity whereby the lens is hydrated and the securing terminated. A method of selectively controlling movement of a contact lens in blister packaging comprising a cavity, the method comprising depositing a droplet of a first lens hydrating liquid in the cavity, securing the contact lens to the blister packaging with the droplet, and after the step of securing the contact lens, injecting a second lens hydrating liquid into the cavity whereby the lens is hydrated.

摘要: An ophthalmic device for slowing, inhibiting or preventing myopia progression which is a polymerization product of a monomeric mixture comprising (a) greater than 50 wt. %, based on the total weight of the monomeric mixture, of one or more non-silicone-containing hydrophilic monomers; (b) one or more crosslinking agents; and (c) one or more red-light blocking compounds blocking greater than 5% to about 25% of red-light transmission through the ophthalmic device at a wavelength of from about 550 nm to about 800 nm, wherein the one or more red-light blocking compounds have one or more ethylenically unsaturated reactive end groups.
