摘要: A photocurable device injection system for creating in situ polymerization via light or free-radical to enable fractured bone fixation. The system comprises a photosensitive polymeric resin sensitive to light, temperature, oxygen, enzymes, or a combination thereof. The photosensitive polymeric resin may be configured to cure at room temperature or physiological temperature with a light source. The photosensitive polymeric resin may be configured to depolymerize with ultrasonication, sonication, or a combination thereof. The system further comprises an implantable 3-dimensional biocompatible pouch comprising an optical light guide. The system further comprises one or more micro-sized ultrasonication probes configured to contact a three-dimensional pouch by one or more openings. The one or more probes may be configured to enable polymer outflow.

摘要: Open-cell foam having a structure of interconnected struts formed of polymeric material and defining open cells, resulting from polymerization of a continuous phase of a high internal phase water-in-oil emulsion, the struts comprising the polymeric material with clay nanoparticles at least partially captured therewithin, is disclosed. The clay nanoparticles may be present in combination with a surface modifier. Methods for making the open-cell foam are also disclosed. Absorbent articles including the open cell foam are also disclosed.

摘要: Methods and related apparatus for real-time process monitoring during laser-based refractive index modification of an intraocular lens. During in situ laser treatment of the IOL to modify the refractive index of the IOL material, a signal from the IOL is measured to determine the processing effect of the refractive index modification, and based on the determination, to adjust the laser system parameters to achieve intended processing result. The signal measured from the IOL may be a fluorescent signal induced by the treatment laser, a fluorescent signal induced by an external illumination source, a temporary photodarkening effect, a color change, or a refractive index change directly measured by phase stabilized OCT.

摘要: A polymer material is provided that can be used to produce an intraocular lens having a high refractive index and low adhesion on a lens surface and suppressing the occurrence of glistening and sub-surface nano glistening. Further, an intraocular lens with the properties mentioned above is provided. The polymer material can preferably be used to produce an intraocular lens. The polymer material is formed by polymerizing a liquid monomer mixture containing 11 to 30% by mass of a macromonomer (A) represented by the following formula (I) and at least a (meth)acrylate monomer (B) with an aryl group.

摘要: A tether cutting system for transcatheter annuloplasty may be provided with a flexible catheter, a handle section coupled to the proximal end of the catheter having a movable actuator, and a cutter assembly coupled to the distal end of the catheter. The cutter assembly may be provided with a blade coupled to a blade holder, a slot configured to slidably receive a tether to be cut, and a backstop configured to contact the blade. The system may further include a pull wire extending through the catheter, spanning between the movable actuator and the blade holder. In one embodiment, the movable actuator, the pull wire and the blade holder are configured to cooperate together to move the blade from a distal position, across the cutter assembly slot and towards a proximal position to cut a tether extending through the slot. Methods of use are also provided.

The implantable cell containing device includes a scaffold and a cell-containing hydrogel encapsulating the scaffold. The scaffold has a tracheal-like internal system of continuous air-filled, hydrophobic micro-channels that traverse the scaffold's dimensions and a hydrophilic external surface. The implantable cell containing device, when implanted in a subject, can be used for delivering a therapeutic agent to a subject in need thereof for the treatment of various conditions and diseases.

The surface gradient crosslinked method of ultrahigh molecular weight polyethylene includes a n ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene surface photoinitiator diffusion step and an ultraviolet light irradiation crosslinking step. In this method, the photoinitiator is diffused deeply into the surface of ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene, the body material shows a gradient cross-linking from the surface to the inside after ultraviolet irradiation so that the whole bulk has a high toughness and the surface there of has a high wear resistance.
