Abstract:
Utilisation of (meth)acrylic comb copolymers with side chains of the hydroxy and alkoxy polyalkylene glycol type in which are present both ethylene oxide and propylene oxide links. These copolymers give a styling effect and an elimination of rinsing. The invention also relates to a cosmetic formulation containing such structures as well as a hair treatment process based on this formulation.
Abstract:
This invention relates to a process for producing a composition characterized in that it comprises the steps of: a) preparing an aqueous solution of at least one comb polymer of (meth)acrylic acid onto which is grafted a function of alkoxy and/or hydroxy polyalkylene glycol, b) preparing an aqueous emulsion of at least one acrylic thickener, c) mixing the aqueous solution from step a) with the aqueous emulsion from step b), possibly adding water, and in that one partially neutralizes the comb polymer during step a) and/or step c), in such a way as to obtain a mixture whose pH is between 5.5 and 6.8, preferentially between 5.8 and 6.3. The invention also concerns the product obtained and its utilization in a paper coating for paper, as a thickening agent for said coating and/or as a water retention agent for said coating and/or as an agent improving the brightness and/or the optical azuration of the paper coated with said coating.
Abstract:
The invention resides in the use, as an agent reducing the viscosity of a thermoplastic or thermosetting paste filled with a calcium carbonate, of a calcium carbonate characterized in that it is obtained by dry-grinding, firstly, and in that it is dry-ground in the presence of a grinding aid agent which is a copolymer of (meth)acrylic acid with a monomer containing an alcoxy or hydroxy polyalkyleneglycol group, secondly. The invention also concerns the filled thermoplastic and thermosetting pastes obtained in this manner.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a product obtained by a method of dry milling a mineral material in at least one milling unit: (i) in the presence of at least one polyalkylene glycol polymer having monomer units forming a backbone, where at least 90% of the monomer units forming the backbone of the polymer are constituted by ethylene oxide, propylene oxide or their mixtures, and where the polymer has a molecular weight of at least equal to 400 g/mole, and (ii) in a quantity of water that is less than 10% in dry weight of the material in the milling unit.
Abstract:
The invention pertains to a new method for formulating any agrochemical active ingredient so as to protect the user, protect this active ingredient from outside stresses, and control its release kinetics. It relies on the use of acrylic and thickening emulsions with a pH greater than five and containing hydrophobic groups in order to trap said active ingredient. The invention also pertains to the various embodiments of the active ingredient thereby formulated: a mixture in water of that active ingredient with these thickening emotions, a dispersion of solid particles of these polymers and this active ingredient after a certification, and the solid particles obtained in a dried state after the water has been removed. Finally, the invention pertains to the use of these various formulations in order to protect and active ingredient, protect its user, and slow its release kinetics.
Abstract:
Cosmetic compositions for make-up containing acrylic comb copolymers having the advantage of increasing the intensity of the color produced by these compositions when they are applied to the skin or to keratin derivatives such as the hair or the eyelashes. Not only are the aesthetic properties conferred by these compositions thus improved, but their useful life is also increased, since they allow access to the desired shade (and good intensity) right from the first application.
Abstract:
The invention resides in a method for manufacturing a metallic hydroxide-based and metallic oxide-based powder, which is self-dispersing in water, characterized in that a metallic oxide powder is partially treated with a polymer in the form of an aqueous emulsion and/or solution, in such a way that the level of metallic hydroxide by dry weight within said treated powder is less than 99% of its total weight, and in that said polymer is a water-soluble homopolymer or copolymer containing at least one vinylic monomer. In one particular variant, the polymer is a water-soluble copolymer containing a vinylic monomer and a non-ionic monomer, and the metal is calcium and/or magnesium. The invention also pertains to the powders obtained, their uses in aqueous suspensions, in treating waste, as a chemical additive, or as a soil amendment.
Abstract:
The use of an amine in a method to manufacture an aqueous suspension of mineral matter by dispersion and/or grinding in the presence of at least one acrylic polymer. The amine enables the quantity of polymer dispersant to be reduced. In a preferred embodiment the quantity of acrylic dispersant is reduced, whilst keeping the same mineral matter content, and maintaining or even improving the rheology of the suspension over time.
Abstract:
The invention consists of the use of phosphoric acid, in a method for concentrating an aqueous dispersion or suspension of calcium carbonate in the presence of at least one acrylic dispersing agent, as an agent for reducing the quantity of free dispersing agent, i.e. the fraction of acrylic dispersing agent not adsorbed onto the surface of the particles of the calcium carbonate and present in the aqueous phase. It also pertains to the aqueous dispersions or suspensions of calcium carbonate, exhibiting a reduced quantity of free dispersing agent.
