    Abstract: The invention consists in the use, in a process of manufacture of GCC and PCC co-ground in water, of a co-grinding agent characterized in that: a) it is constituted by a least one homopolymer and/or at least one copolymer of acrylic acid, which is partially neutralised, of which the rate of molar neutralization is less than 75% of the total acid functions, b) and in that it is introduced: during the stage of preparation of the aqueous suspensions of GCC and PCC, and/or during stage 2) of co-grinding, and possibly during the stage of co-grinding and another stage of concentration, and possibly during this other stage of concentration. The invention also lies in the resulting aqueous suspensions of GCC and PCC, in the dry pigments of GCC and PCC obtained, and in the use of these products in paper, paint, rubber and plastic.

    Abstract: The present invention is directed to a method for dry milling a material containing a carbonate ore. The method comprises the following steps: (a) dry milling the material in at least one milling unit: (i) in the presence of at least one polyalkylene glycol polymer having monomer units forming a backbone, where at least 90% of the monomer units forming the backbone of the polymer are constituted by ethylene oxide, propylene oxide or their mixtures, and where the polymer has a molecular weight of at least equal to 400 g/mole, (ii) such that the milling unit contains a quantity of water that is less than 10% in dry weight of the material in the milling unit; (b) optionally classifying the material from step a) with at least one classification unit; and (c) optionally repeating steps a) and/or b) with all or part of the material from step a) and/or step b).

    Abstract: The invention relates to agents that are used to improve optical properties such as opacity and/or brightness of dry products based on mineral matter containing said agents. More specifically, the invention relates to a method of producing dry products based on mineral matter, in which the agents used to improve the opacity and/or brightness of said dry products take the form of controlled-structure water-soluble polymers which are obtained using a controlled radical polymerisation method employing a particular alkoxyamine as a polymerisation initiator. The invention also relates to the use of aqueous suspensions and/or dispersions of mineral matter containing said polymers for the same purpose. The aforementioned dry products comprise plastics, filled paper, dry films produced by drying a coating slip, dry films produced by drying an aqueous paint formulation or dry films produced by drying an aqueous cosmetic formulation, which contain mineral matter as well as said polymers.
