摘要: A digital data separator for use with apparatus for recovering binary information recorded in FM or MFM on magnetic media comprises a measuring unit which in correspondence with a read pulse n, supplies information representative of the actual duration of interval N between pulse n and the previous read pulse n-1. A media speed error recovery unit corrects such duration relative to the nominal speed according to a code representative of the media speed error, a peak-shift recovery unit which depending on the peak-shift of pulse n-1, determined on the basis of the temporal history of the most recent pulses n-3, n-2 and n-1 of such corrected duration, supplies duration information related to such interval and information representative of the direction and the entity of the peak-shift of the read out pulse n, and a speed error measuring unit defines a code representative of such error as the difference between the actual duration of a period consisting of a suitable number of subsequent intervals between read pulses and their nominal duration. This duration is corrected relative to the peak-shift of the pulses defining the beginning and the end of the period and is further "normalized" according to the nominal duration of the period. The speed error code is applied to the speed error recovery unit. The nominal duration of interval N is applied to a logic unit which generates a "window" signal and reconstructs the read pulse in a suitable phase relationship with the window signal.

摘要: A digital apparatus recovers data recorded in FM or MFM on a magnetic media moving at a normal speed in which the reading of the media provides a sequence of timing/data pulses at variable intervals, which differ from a nominal interval due to speed error and magnetic "peak-shift". The apparatus provides identification of a nominal interval between read out pulses and the reconstruction of a correct stream of pulses properly located within a window signal. It includes a digital measurement unit which at each read out pulse n received in input supplies at an output a code indicative of the actual duration of the interval N between the pulse n and a previous pulse n-1; and a speed correction unit which corrects the measured duration of the interval N relative to speed error detected by the digital measurement unit during reading of a synchronization bit field. A peak shift correction unit included within the apparatus utilizing the corrected interval duration, and for MFM recording, the previous most recent history of received pulses establishes a nominal duration for the interval N. The nominal duration attributed to interval N is used by a regeneration unit to produce a suitable window signal and a regenerated pulse corresponding to the read out n pulse which is properly located within the window signal.

摘要: A microprogrammed control apparatus for dot matrix serial printers and related printing method which allows increased horizontal resolution of the printing matrix and therefore the printing quality consistent with the restriction that no printing element can be actuated before a previous energization of any printing element has been completed. The increase of the horizontal resolution is obtained by using a character description matrix with high resolution and logic circuits responsive to binary configurations read out from such matrix. In a preferred alternative, the increase of the horizontal resolution is obtained by using a "compressed" character description matrix containing a plurality of printing patterns, one for each of the columns where printing has to be performed (hereinafter "column to be printed") and a corresponding plurality of codes, each related to a printing pattern and representative of the distance/time interval between the column to be printed and the previous column to be printed.

摘要: An asynchronous bus multiprocessor system where a plurality of microprogrammed processors communicate with a working memory through a common bus. Microinstructions are read out from working memory. At least one of the processors, in addition to conventional bus interface registers for latching of data, address and commands to be forwarded to the working memory through the bus, is provided with an additional interface register, devoted to the latching of a microinstruction address for a microinstruction to be read out from the working memory. The system is further provided with a multiplexer for selectively loading a microinstruction register either from a microprogram control memory or from the system common bus, via a direct path established between the system common bus and an input set of the multiplexer. The microinstruction transfer speed from working memory to the processor is further enhanced by means of different timing for the data transfer through the bus and the microinstruction transfer through the bus. In the case of data transfer a bus access cycle is started at the end of the processor cycle during which the relevant bus interface register is loaded. In the case of microinstruction read out from working memory, the additional interface register is loaded at the beginning of a processor cycle concurrently with the request of bus access cycle, so that the two overlap.

摘要: A sheet front loading printer comprising a printer body with a chute beneath the body and having the inner portion bent upwards in order to guide a sheet inserted therein up to the platen. The platen also doubles as a sheet feeding device. To allow the use of sheets having a dimension less than the one defined by the path of the bottom of the chute, the chute is provided with at least one elongated opening or indentation and an arrangement of the printer supports which allows the printer to rest on a working plane. This permits further advancement of the sheet by manual action performed by the operator through the opening in the bottom of the chute.

摘要: A semiconductor memory is provided with means for refreshing the memory. Interrupt requests generated by the memory initiate refreshing cycles, which take place in parallel with normal read/write memory operations. The memory is divided in two parts or blocks. If the central processor unit assigns a cycle for read/write operation to one of the two blocks, the same cycle is utilized to recharge or refresh a row of storage elements of the integrated units which constitute the other block of the memory. Refreshing is regulated by low priority interrupt requests and, if not responded to, by high priority interrupt requests, which are mandatory.

摘要: A dynamic current limiting circuit to be used in connection with voltage regulators of the switching type is provided. The current limiter consists of electronic means suitably connected into the power stage of a conventional switching voltage regulator, for the purpose of reducing or removing the detrimental peak current spikes which occur whenever the power transistor switches from the non-conducting to the conducting state.
