    Abstract: Virtual machine storage and runtime provisioning comprises accessing a base generalized reusable virtual machine image and configuring memory according to an instantiated copy of the base virtual machine image. Project specific content is accessed from a central content store configured to store content separately from the base machine image. The instantiated machine image and project specific content are linked at launch time to form a project specific functioning virtual machine. After completion of the project specific function, the project specific content is stored separately and the project specific functioning virtual machine is removed from memory. This minimizes use of virtual machine instances to only when needed and makes content available to other users. This also minimizes proliferation of unused project specific function virtual machine images, frees-up storage space, and enables easier automated maintenance of separately stored base virtual machine images and updating of the centralized plurality of project specific contents.

    Abstract: First in, first out (FIFO) memory queue architecture enabling a plurality of writers and a single reader to use the queue without mutual exclusive locking. The FIFO queue is implemented using an array. A write counter value associated with the array provides a reservation value to each writer that is mutually exclusive of the value provided to every other writer. A read counter value associated with the array prevents writers from writing over data messages stored in the array that are yet to be read by the single reader.

    Abstract: A magnetic flowmeter includes a conduit and an electrical coil for generating a magnetic field extending through the conduit. A coil driver is configured to energize the coil and generate a periodically reversing magnetic field. Electrodes are arranged to detect voltages generated by flow of a conductive fluid through the magnetic field. A measurement system measures fluid flow rate using voltages detected by the electrodes. An empty conduit detector receives signals from the electrodes and determines whether or not the electrodes are immersed in the conductive fluid by analyzing the signals from the electrodes. The flowmeter optionally includes a low-flow verification system for distinguishing true low or zero flow rate measurements from measurements caused by the electrodes being exposed above the fluid level in the conduit by assessing whether or not EMF induced by magnetic flux change can be detected.

    Abstract: A historian interface system provides a graphical representation of tags that represent attributes of a continuous process. A historian system stores the tags and metadata values describing the tags. A display device coupled to the historian system via a communication network displays graphical representations of the tags via display panels and receives selections of the tags. The historian system contextualizes selected tags based on the metadata values describing the selected tag and determines an optimal visualization scheme for the selected tags. The display device displays graphical representations of values of the tags and dynamically determines optimal grouping of the tags based on properties of the display device.
