Process for the determination of the magnetite and phosphorus contents of magnetite-containing ores. A sample of dust which has been produced artificially or obtained as byproduct is collected and placed in an electromagnetic field. The magnetite content of the dust sample is determined from changes in the magnetic flux or the relative permeability. Subsequently the phosphorus content of the total dust sample mass is determined. Also the total dust sample mass is likewise determined from changes in the magnetic flux or the relative permeability. The dust sample is preferably dried prior to measuring the change in the magnetic flux or the relative permeability. Equipment for carrying out the process includes a coil system having at least one measuring coil for determining the magnetite content. The core of the measuring coil forms a tube which has a minimum filling height that exceeds the length of the coil. An additional measuring coil, whose length exceeds the maximum filling height of the tube, is provided for determination of the sample mass. The tube is connected to a reaction chamber for carrying out the phosphorus analysis. The reaction chamber is connected to reagent storage containers. A microprocessor is provided for evaluating the measured values and simultaneously controlling the operation of the equipment. The tube is connected to a dust collecting unit, preferably via an elbow.

According to the invention a in first reformation step (5) unreacted carbon monoxide CO and steam present in the reactor off gas is reformed to carbon dioxide and hydrogen following the water gas shift reaction CO+H2O=CO2+H2, in a secondary reformation step the de-watered reactor off gas comprising mainly of carbon dioxide and hydrogen is processed to remove carbon dioxide, and in a third reformation step physical separation of both nitrogen and carbon oxide CO from the reducing syngas is carried out to bring down the levels of CO and any existing other gases in the recycled gas to as low level as possible such that recycled reducing gas is as close to pure hydrogen H2 as possible.

The roll spacing adjusting device functions to act on all rolls simultaneously, so that the spacing change will be the same for all rolls. The device includes two parallel running tracks (10, 11) and the distance between these tracks can be varied. A change in the distance between the running tracks causes the roll axle housings (6) to rotate and move the axles (2). This roll screen also includes a device for adjusting the individual distance between two consecutive rolls without affecting the distances between the remaining rolls. This device includes a spacer (32) which is inserted between the housings of the two rolls in which the roll axles are journalled. The roll screen is also provided with a separate elastic sealing element between the roll axle and the roll drive arrangement.
