摘要： Method of operating a drop generator while avoiding spattering during start up and termination of operations. The method includes pressurizing the drop generator manifold with air or other gas and with a flushing liquid formulated to leave substantially no residue upon evaporation, before pumping coating material to the manifold. In stopping the drop generator the flow of coating material to the manifold is replaced with a flow of flushing liquid and the flow of flushing liquid is then terminated and, simultaneously, an evacuation line leading to a low pressure source is opened.

摘要： An article carrier having a plurality of apertures therein is applied to a plurality of articles in such manner that a part of each article is enveloped within one of the apertures by a machine which includes conveyor means for moving a group of articles arranged in side by side relationship into a loading station, a vertically reciprocable plunger disposed above the loading station, a carrier holder normally supported by said plunger and having at least one cavity therein for receiving and holding a carrier in substantially fixed relation relative to the holder, and article positioning means movable with said holder for engaging the articles at the loading station so as to align each article with an aperture in the carrier so that subsequent downward movement of said plunger drives the carrier out of said cavity downwardly to cause each article to be enveloped within one aperture in the holder.

摘要： A clipboard includes at least one hinge connection having first and second coupling members. The first member has an end portion bent over flush against itself to form an outwardly facing rounded bearing surface and an inwardly facing butt-end, and the second member has an inwardly facing dimple formed in a portion thereof and defining an oppositely facing projection. The dimple receives the rounded bearing surface, which is retained within the dimple by a split-tube having a first edge retained by the butt-end and a second edge retained by the projection.

摘要： There is disclosed a spray steel making process wherein streams of molten pig iron are subjected to a constant frequency vibration. This vibration causes the streams to break up into uniformly sized and regularly spaced drops which then are refined in the presence of oxygen and a shower of lime particles. A fast and yet precisely controlled refining reaction is produced because of the small but uniform drops which fall through the reaction chamber. Apparatus is also disclosed for automatic adjustment of the stimulation frequency and for electrical charging of the drops so formed.

摘要： For withdrawing a pair of blanks from a hopper simultaneously, a feeder blank is disposed within the hopper adjacent the outlet part thereof and is constructed and arranged in face contacting relationship with a companion blank in such manner that movable suction means is afforded access to an area of the companion blank so that withdrawing movement of the suction means imparts withdrawing movement to both the feeder blank and the companion blank simultaneously by a single withdrawal stroke of the suction means. Both blanks are adapted for movement in a direction different from the direction of withdrawal movement of the blanks as by means of a pair of feeder chains. Stabilizing tabs are formed along the end portions of the feeder blank adjacent the trailing edge thereof to insure proper engagement of the feeder blank by the feeder chains.

摘要： An article carrier of the basket style comprises medial handle structure, riser panels secured to the ends of the handle structure, end walls secured medially thereof to the riser panels, side walls foldably joined at their end edges to the corresponding end edges of the end walls, at least one partition element interconnecting each side wall and the handle structure to form a plurality of article receiving cells on each side of the handle structure, bottom panels foldably joined to the bottom edges of the side walls respectively and arranged to be interconnected to form a composite bottom panel, the dimensions of the cells on each side of the handle structure in a direction longitudinally of the carrier being less than the diameters of the packaged articles so that the sum of the diameters of the articles packaged and of the partition elements in each row of cells is greater than the length of the handle structure and of each side wall. The carton is formed completely except for the composite bottom panel and is lowered from above into enveloping relationship relative to a group of articles to be packaged, the articles having upwardly tapered upper portions to facilitate loading and preferably the partition elements being extensible whereby relative movement in a direction which is transverse to the carrier handle is accommodated between the side walls and the handle structure to facilitate manual access to a hand gripping opening formed in the handle structure.
