    摘要: A vector decoder for detecting symbols transmitted along a communication channel is disclosed, as is a method for decoding symbols. The decoder includes at least two pairs of decision feedback equalizers and noise predictors operating on a plurality M of vectors of symbols being detected, a path storage unit, a metric determiner a sorter and a path builder. The vectors are ordered in accordance with quality levels and each noise predictor estimates the noise associated with its associated vector. The path storage unit stores M of the ordered vectors, each vector being of length L. The metric determiner is connected to the output of all of the decision feedback equalizers and the noise predictors and produces a performance metric for each of Q branches extending from each vector. Each branch is associated with one of Q possible symbol values. The sorter is connected to the output of the metric determiner and sorts data, formed of a) the symbol values and b) the vectors which they extend, in accordance with their performance metrics. The sorter also orders, from the M*Q performance metrics, the data having the M best performance metrics. The path builder is connected to the output of the sorter and associates the ordered data with the appropriate ones of the previously stored ordered vectors.

    摘要: An improved VGA design offering a purely ratiometric mechanism for controlling gain by current-steering. A control loop delivers a reference voltage to a control amplifier that steers current and match the common mode output voltage (CMOV) with said predefined reference voltage. The VGA is designed so that, although the absolute gain varies over process, voltage, and temperature (PVT), the gain steps retain their values. Moreover, a method for controlling the gain in a VGA in a way that is insensitive to PVT is also disclosed. First, a voltage representing the required gain of the VGA in injected to the outputs of the VGA. Then, the CMOV of the VGA is sampled. Finally, the CMOV is subtracted by a predefined reference voltage and is fed back as bias to bases of the transistors of the VGA, thus controlling it gain, until the CMOV and the reference voltage become equal.

    摘要: The present invention provides a method for reducing phase noise in OFDM systems by analyzing a time-dependent representation of the phase noise that changes in real time according to received data. The analysis of real time signals is based on processing statistical properties of phase noise and received data. The statistical properties of phase noise are represented by a covariance matrix Rψψ. The basis of the multiplicative phase noise decomposition which represents the varying in time phase noise component, is selected from the eigenvectors of Rψψ. The present invention suggests replacing the fixed representation of the phase noise as suggested by prior art with a system and time-dependent representation that changes in real time according to received data.The method according to the present invention is implemented within An OFDM transceiver.
