Abstract:
A method for running a Self Organizing Network (SON) module in a communication network provides an open Application Programming Interface (API) for a SON framework and executes the SON module. The SON module accesses the functionality of the SON framework using the API. The SON module may be built by a developer other than a SON system provider and may be loaded into the SON framework by an operator other than a SON system provider. Various restrictions may be imposed on the API to provide a useful interface while protecting the network.

Resources for reference signalling on at least one component carrier of a plurality of aggregated component carriers can be determined by a station. Information indicative the at least one component carrier and the associated resources is then communicated to another station for configuration of the other station. A trigger is then sent for reference signalling, and in response to the trigger, at least one reference signal is sent from the other station using the indicated at least one component carrier and resources.
Abstract:
A Network entity of a communication network and a network node are disclosed. The network entity includes a control unit, wherein the control unit is configured for receiving network status information and providing a refarming control signal to a network node on the basis of the network status information. The refarming control signal is related to a reuse of a frequency resource of a first communication technology by a second communication technology. For evaluation of frequency refarming, a concept of a figure of merit is disclosed which allows for an easy employment of a frequency refarming policy.

Various example embodiments relate to a method and apparatus for two-stage beamforming. The method comprises estimating an effective channel between at least one user equipment and a plurality of access point elements; designing a short-term precoder for the effective channel, the short-term precoder being designed by solving a coverage maximization problem under a sum power constraint and at least one per-antenna power constraint; and using the short-term precoder for two-stage beamforming.

A first radio access network (RAN) accesses information indicating an availability status of an interface between an access and mobility management function (AMF) in a first wireless communication system and a mobility management entity (MME) in a second wireless communication system. The first RAN receives a trigger for a handover of a user equipment between the first RAN and a second RAN. The handover is selectively performed via the interface or a redirect via a network element shared by the first and second wireless communication systems based on the availability status. In some cases, the first RAN receive the information indicating the availability status prior to providing the request for the handover and stores the information in a database associated with the first RAN, which access the information from the database.
Abstract:
An interference control method and apparatus in a self-organizing system are provided. The method includes the following steps: interference information is received at an access node from at least two other access nodes, wherein the other access nodes serve communication devices interfered by the access node; then the interference information is evaluated at the access node to determine at least one action that could be taken because of the interference; information about the determined at least one action is communicated to at least one of the at least two other access nodes, and the recipient node is operated accordingly.

Methods and apparatus for control of a device with coexisting radios and capable of carrier aggregation are disclosed. A change in the activation status of a secondary cell can be determined where after interference information to be reported is determined in response to the determined change. The determined interference information is compared to interference information reported previously for a similar change, and a decision is made based thereon whether to send the determined interference information.
