An apparatus for an antenna assembly, which can be used for a mobile application such as on an aircraft, can include a housing defining an interior. A first antenna, such as a WAAS GPS antenna, can mount within the interior to operate at a first frequency. A second antenna, such as an L-band monopole antenna, can mount within the interior of the housing. A trap coupled to the second antenna can be tuned to the first frequency to prevent signal loss caused by the second antenna.

A prism coupled waveguide-fed solar collector array optimized for geometric fill factor. An integrated linear array of prisms is arranged with their input faces in a common plane. The exit faces of the prisms each feds a corresponding optical waveguide and detector.

The use of rectennas, or antenna-coupled rectifiers, using metal-insulator-metal tunnel diodes as rectifiers for energy conversion has been explored with more fervor recently, given the advances in nanotechnology fabrication and increased resolution of features. Some have made these devices from symmetric metals (e.g. Ni—NiO—Ni) and asymmetric metals (e.g. Al—AlOx/Pt), and have used deposited oxides as well as native oxides. One key to obtaining a highly asymmetric device with efficient current generation needed for high conversion efficiency is to instead use dissimilar metals and a thin reproducible oxide. The described method allows for a thin, reproducible native oxide of nickel be integrated with any antenna metal to overcome oxide surface roughness problems that typically hamper the practicality of these devices.

A transmission line array is used for explosive/contraband detection using nuclear quadrupole resonance in which the array is driven in-phase with synchrony frequency-swept signals. Each of the balanced transmission lines is fed with a low power swept frequency source and stimulated emissions are picked out with a directional coupler. Location is provided using a cross grid array or a phase detector is used for each balanced line, with phase determining the distance to the sensed substance.

A mobile multiband antenna has a frequency matching circuit located in a base mount housing for mounting the antenna to a carrier. A heat sink is located on a reverse side of the frequency matching circuit. One or more resistors in the frequency matching circuit are mounted to the heat sink to dissipate heat.

A dipole antenna comprises a hollow dielectric whip, a coaxial center feed extending therethrough, and a pair of conductive dipole elements comprising an upper element and a lower element. The dipole antenna further comprises an upper element lead connecting the upper element to a first portion of the coaxial center feed at a feed point and a lower element lead connecting the lower element to a second portion of the coaxial center feed at the feed point. The dipole antenna further comprises a feed point strengthening means to mechanically strengthen the feed point against disconnection when the whip is impacted. Additionally, the dipole antenna may be a dual dipole antenna.

Nuclear quadrupole resonance substance detection at a distance is provided by crossed or overlapping high frequency beams in which the frequency of one of the beams is offset with respect to the frequency of the other beam by an amount equal to the resonant frequency of the non-linear material to be detected. The presence of energy at the offset frequency within the overlapping beams pumps any non-linear material within the overlapping beams to cause stimulated emission which is detected, in one embodiment, utilizing a network analyzer, along with correlation of the detected stimulated emission signature with a library of signatures for predetermined substances.

A television antenna is constructed of a flat plate antenna comprising a plurality of concentric, rectangularly shaped loops formed of conductive material and disposed on a substrate. Each loop forms an antenna for signals in a predefined frequency band within the TV frequency spectrum. An additional loop is disposed within the plurality of concentric loops and is adapted for receiving signals in the FM frequency range. Each of the loops has four sides having an electrical length equivalent to one-quarter wavelength at a center frequency within a frequency band and each side of each antenna loop is connected to a side of another antenna loop and to one of a pair of antenna output terminals. The sides of each loop are formed by conductive strips deposited on a dielectric substrate which is particularly adapted for installation adjacent a dielectric roof panel or the like.

A rectifier comprising a metal-insulator-metal (MIM) structure. The insulator may be a native oxide with an adjacent layer of graphene. In one implementation, the rectifier is used in an electromagnetic energy collector consisting of a planar waveguide formed of multiple material layers having at least two different dielectric constants. MIM rectifiers are aligned with mirrors are formed within the waveguide core. In some arrangements, a plurality of MIM rectifiers are disposed in a column or 3D array beneath each mirror.
