    摘要: A latch (10) includes a rotatable jaw (18) that engages and holds a striker (32) in a latched position. A rotatable pawl (28) in an engaged position is operative to hold the jaw in the latched position. Movement of the pawl to a disengaged position enables the jaw to move to an unlatched position and to disengage the striker. The pawl is movable from the engaged position to the disengaged position through operation of either an electrical actuator (84) or through movement of an actuating end (26) of the pawl by a cable (36).

A release pawl (212) is operative to hold the catch jaw in a latched jaw position, and upon movement of the release pawl, enables the catch jaw to move to an unlatched jaw position. In an unlocked condition of the latch, movement of a handle (206) is operative to enable the latch to change from the latched to unlatched condition. The latch includes a keylock (240) and an electrical actuator (308). Each of the keylock and the electrical actuator are operative to independently change the condition of the latch between locked and unlocked conditions.

    摘要: An actuator (24, 528, 606, 646, 670, 700, 702) is configured to cause a latch assembly (22, 322, 422, 522, 526, 604, 644, 668, 694) to be changed from a closed condition in which an item is latched, to an open condition in which the item is unlatched. A catch jaw (30, 530, 690) is operative in a first position to engage a member (106) connected to the item when the latch assembly is in the closed condition. The catch jaw in a second position enables the member to disengage from the catch jaw when the latch assembly is in the open condition. The actuator assembly includes a drive (152, 526, 608, 706) and a gear system (157, 563, 610, 712). The gear system is operative to move a release member (174, 538, 612, 722, 764). The release member is configured to be in operative connection with the catch jaw such that the movement of the release member causes the catch jaw to be enabled to move to the second position.

    摘要: A vent apparatus (10) comprises a perforated screen (12), a door (18), a guide (24), and a handle (26), and a lever assembly (30). The door is adjacent a first face (13) of the screen and includes at least one arm (20, 22) that extends through at least one slot in the screen. The guide (24) is mounted adjacent a second face (14) of the screen. The handle (26) is in pivoting connection with the at least one arm and is operative to move relative to the guide to cause the door to move between a closed position (62) to an open position (64). A lever assembly (30) extends from the handle in pivoting connection with the guide. As the handle moves, the lever assembly is adapted to maintain the handle sufficiently close to the guide such that at least a portion of the handle is operative to slide along the guide.

    摘要: An electronic access control and recording system includes a lock, a card reader, a key card configured to communicate with the lock and with the card reader, a database, and an administrator microprocessor configured to provide a user interface and to communicate with the database and with the card reader. At least one of the lock and the card contain a microprocessor and a non-volatile memory storing encrypted information. In use, the key card provides access to the lock and transfers the encrypted information between the lock and the database via the card reader and the administrator microprocessor. The administrator microprocessor provides a user interface for reviewing and administering the database. The user interface also provides account and password qualification for users.
