摘要: An elongate heater (1) in which a resistive heating element core is surrounded by a first insulating jacket (9) and a second insulating jacket (11). In a preferred embodiment the resistive heating element core comprises a conductive polymer composition (3) and the heater passes the VW-1 flame test. The second insulating jacket (11) may be made from the same material as the first insulating jacket (9). For some applications it is preferred that the second insulating jacket be a thin film, e.g. polyester film.

摘要: A digital telephone circuit is transferred from an old line to a new line. Before the transfer, a first stage delay circuit is inserted, wherein the delay of the data is incrementally adjusted to match the delay of a data control element. The data control element is then inserted in series with the data on the old line. The data control element incrementally adjust the delay and amplitude of the data on the old line to match that of the data on the new line. The incremental adjustments to delay and amplitude are within the specifications of the circuit, so as to minimize interruptions to the circuit. Interruptions are also minimized when the circuit is transferred to the new line. The data control element also introduces variations into the data at an upstream location. These are detected at a downstream location and are used for testing and communication purposes. The variations are removed from the data at the downstream end. The new line is used for communications between the transfer locations before the transfer. After the transfer occurs, the old line is used for communications.

摘要: A braille board having dot pins placed in a raised or lowered state via actuators connected thereto is provided with a cordwood circuit board to which the actuators are attached. The braille board provides a full page of braille to the user having twenty-five lines of forty characters per line. Since each braille cell in the United States has six dot pin locations per cell, it is necessary to access six thousand different actuators. A plurality of solid state switching chips is provided to selectively actuate each of the actuators under the control of a microprocessor and chip controller. The microprocessor translates alphanumeric information into at least one page of braille, each page of braille having up to twenty-five lines.

摘要: An athletic shoe which includes a timing device for measuring the amount of time the athletic shoe is off the ground and in air. The athletic shoe can also include a notification device which can be operatively coupled to the timing device for notifying a wearer of the athletic shoe of a message. The message can include information related to the amount of time the athletic shoe is off the ground and in the air.

摘要: A taxidermic eye-mounting method wherein moist paper-mache or the like is stuffed through the eye opening of a hallowed-out animal head such as a fish head. A slightly flexible eye socket of substantially rigid material which has been molded to receive an artificial eye is set in the eye opening in the moist paper-mache. A fish eye is popped into the eye socket after the paper-mache has dried. The eye socket is formed to resemble the eye lid and eye membrane of an open animal eye such as an open fish eye. The socket may be made by a method of forming a moldable, pliable, non-hardening material around the animal eye to create a model which emulates the eye lid and eye membrane of an open animal eye such as an open fish eye.

摘要: A tool attachment for a percussion drill power tool which expands and sets, essentially but not limited to, fastening anchors used in concrete and masonry. The tool's body is generally cylindrical and is mostly hollow to slip over a drill bit (38, 74) of the percussion drill, using a spring clip (24, 124) to keep it from falling off. The opposite end of the tool has either a coaxial concave recess (54, 154, 354, 454) to place onto an anchor (58) or a coaxial plunger (260) to slip into a mostly hollow anchor (258) that are placed into a drilled hole (64, 264). The anchor (58, 258) is then expanded and set into the concrete or masonry by the hammering action transmitted through the tool by the percussion drill.

摘要: There is provided a method for enabling the placement of a severed tendon to a position in its associated sheath to be repaired or passing a tendon end through any small enclosed space. An elongated, flexible hollow tube with openings at both ends, and is received in the sheath. The tube has two sections with one section being somewhat rigid, although flexible, while the other section is thin, collapsible, and flares out. The flared section receives an end portion of the severed tendon. The opening in the end of the more rigid section is connected to a source of suction. The suction holds the tendon in place within the tube and causes the flared section to collapse tightly about the end portion of the tendon. The tube and the tendon are pulled through the sheath to the place where it was severed for repair. A specialized pair of forceps may be used to grip the tendon for placement in the flared section of the tube, and a specialized adapter may be used to connect the end of the more rigid section of the tube to the source of suction.

摘要: A plastic display card holder for receiving and gripping a card for display purposes comprises interconnected spaced-apart parallel wall portions. The wall portions are connected in a manner to provide an entrance for insertion of a display card. A plurality of resilient plastic projections are provided on the holder which flex as the display card is inserted into the holder through the entrance. The flexed projections grip the inserted display card as the resilient projections attempt to recover to their normal unflexed position.
