摘要: A self-limiting heater and method for building the self-limiting heater are disclosed. The self-limiting heater consists of a resistor and a PTC resistor coupled together in series with a power supply. Both resistive devices have good thermal coupling. The resistor has a minimal resistance change over changes in temperature while the resistance of the PTC resistor increases with an increase in temperature. The ohmic resistance ratio between the resistor and the PTC may be used to adjust the heater characteristics and limit the characteristic sharpness.

摘要: The present invention involves calibrating a control system to enable resistance-based control of a heat tracing circuit, that includes characterizing a piece of heat trace to determine a relationship between resistance and temperature, allowing for more precise control. Also described are different methods for practical resistance-based control of a heat trace system. Further described are several methods to monitor heat trace: including methods to enhance monitoring capabilities using a system operating model; comparison to historical operating data; and inclusion of information from external sources. Also provided is a method by which a piece of heat trace of unknown length and power factor can be controlled using the resistance-based method when other system information is available.

摘要: The invention relates to a frame (3) for an electric heating device (1), comprising at least one housing (7) intended to receive a heating element (5), said housing being defined by a plurality of longitudinal walls (23, 25) forming an insertion path for a heating element, and said insertion path being defined longitudinally by a back wall extending opposite an opening through which the heating element can be inserted into the housing. According to the invention, at least one of the longitudinal walls comprises a displacement reducing element (10) projecting from the wall. The displacement reducing element (10) comprises a ramp (11) that slopes gradually into the housing, towards the opposite longitudinal wall, said displacement reducing element (10) being arranged such that the downstream end (14, 15) thereof extends at a distance from the back wall (21).

摘要: A PTC heating device has a frame surrounding an accommodation space, at least one PTC element accommodated in the accommodation space, and conductor elements, which are connected to the PTC element in an electrically conductive manner and enclose the PTC element between them. Each of the conductor elements is surrounded by a frame segment. The frame segments are welded together to enclose the PTC element in the accommodation space. In the method according to the invention, injection molded plastic frame segments having interacting connection segments are connected to conductor elements. At least one PTC element is then introduced between the frame segments. The frame segments are approached to each other until the connection segments abut against each other. The connection segments are then melted. As a result of this melting, the frame segments are approached further to each other until the conductor elements abut against the PTC element.

摘要: Proposed is a method of manufacturing a PTC heating element, the method including: (a) preparing a mixed powder of a polymer powder and a carbon nanotube-containing powder, (b) forming the mixed powder into a pellet-shaped body, and (c) extruding the pellet-shaped body to produce a wire-type heating element. A PTC heating element manufactured by the method is also proposed. The PTC heating element manufactured by the method has better thermal conductivity than existing PTC heating elements, so that the PTC heating element exhibits a quick temperature rise within a short time, resulting in a reduction in power consumption. In particular, when the PTC heating element is used as a heating element for car seat heaters and steering wheel heaters in electric vehicles, battery consumption may be dramatically reduced, contributing to an increase in the driving mileage of the electric vehicles.
